Are your plug wires hooked up correctly on the coils?

Re: Interesting Problem

It's in the engine compartment, it's exact location escapes me right now. Look for a solenoid with one electrical connector with two wires going into it and two vacuum hoses hooked to it. One vacuum...

Re: Interesting Problem

It sounds like your evap canister purge solenoid may be stuck open. If it sticks open, fuel vapors will go into the intake manifold creating a temporarily rich condition. If it only happens after...

Re: How far to press the front hubs in?

Make sure you support the inner race when pressing the hub back in, if you don't it could damage the new bearing. What I used to do was keep pumping the jack handle on the press until you feel a more...

Re: lower radiator hose leaking why?

Buy new clamps, regular worm gear ones will work just fine. Probably those OEM clamps are just wore out/rusty, and not crimping the hose correctly.

Re: A sad day- Goodbye SL

When you did the head gasket, did you put a new head on it with a new camshaft? I speak from past experiences that it's a good idea to replace the cam when replacing the head. If you don't, the old...

Re: Your opinions on the performance switch on equipped auto S-series?

97 was the last year it was used. The engineers did away with it because it's not needed. The PCM has an adaptive learning ability to adjust to whoever is driving the vehicle and how.

Re: 97 sl2 ecm question

There could be several possibilities here. To start with, the PCM has been switched. I would do a crank relearn as that could be the cause of the miss at high speed. It could also be the cause of the...

Re: 99 sw2 seems to run cold

Check the heater hoses where they come out of the dash and into the engine compartment, are they both warm when the car is up to temperature? It's possible the heater core may be plugged or partially...

Re: Transmission Question

Sorry for your situation, it hurts having to be the nice guy I know. At least the title is in your name still. You are going about fixing it the right way putting a used transaxle in it, that's the...

Re: 2003 Saturn Vue 2.2L Manaul P0300

You may want to do a compression test. If coolant is going down with no external leaks either you have a head gasket leaking or maybe the water pump may be leaking. Pressure test the cooling system...

Re: Possible ground issue

Ah yes, the ever so unpopular auto hvac system. The system where if you change the temperature by more than two degrees at a time, it over shoots the temperature setting. An engineer actually told me...

Re: Dead starter, but is it really the starter?

Check and see if there is power on the purple wire on the starter when the key is in the crank position. If there is, try lightly tapping the starter. If not, it's something before the starter....

Re: 2007 Ion Cylinder 3 Misfire

Try swapping another injector with that cylinder and see if the misfire moves. You may want to check compression first before doing that though.

Re: Surging.

The surging issue may be EGR related, try swapping the valve off your old engine then driving it. How old are the plugs/wires?

Re: Intermittent Taat Shift Slam When Cold. Restart will fix issue.

When testing resistance of the transaxle actuators the best way is to check all of their resistances and compare to each other. Resistance of these varies with temperature, it even states as such in...

Re: P0302 Cylinder 2 misfire detected

Probably your seal on your thermostat is shot allowing coolant to bypass the thermostat, or the thermostat isn't closing correctly. Either way, probably time for a new thermostat. Double check and...

Re: EDR (black box) and airbag info, '96 sl2

It's probably all in the SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic Module). Basically the airbag computer. The SDM does not care if the seat belt is fastened or not I don't believe. If certain criteria is met, the...

Re: 2007 Saturn Ion 2.2L Fuel/Evap System Issue?

Try taking the purge valve off the car and see if you can blow air through it, you should not be able to. It should be in a mechanically closed position. It's possible you may have two issues,...

Re: 2002 LW200 Power Steering Quit

It might be a long shot, but take the power steering pump off the intake camshaft and see if the end has broken off. I have seen that just once but it may be worth a look to see. The pump is driven...

Re: 2003 3.0 p0700; p2119; p1780

It was probably a terminal tightness issue with that connector. Back in the day when we had to pull intake manifolds on Vue 3.0 engines to replace defective thermostats, I would leave that connector...

Re: 2000 SL1 randomly idles really low

Even though it may not be the issue, would not be a bad idea to make sure you have the updated ect sensor and clean corrosion free connector. If it were me, I would pull the throttle body off and...
