Re: no compression on cyl 3

Fuel filter is not original, at one point I was pretty religious about changing the filter, but at this point the filter probably has >50k miles on it. Yes I was under heavy throttle when I lost...

no compression on cyl 3

1996 SL2 DOHC 5 spd, ~215k

TL;DR what would cause loss of compression to be intermittent?

My car started running like it was only firing on 3 cylinders and threw a SES code (can't remember...

Re: emergency brake indicator on when emergency brake is off?

Thanks for the suggestions, I remember replacing the pads and rotors on the front, but I can't remember how long it's been, I'm sure it's time to do a little maintenance.

I know how to bleed...

Re: emergency brake indicator on when emergency brake is off?

I didn't notice the brake pedal feeling any different than usual, I'm less than a tank of gas away from 200k miles and have never flushed the brake fluid so there's a good chance the fluid is dirty,...

emergency brake indicator on when emergency brake is off?

The indicator for the emergency brake is illuminated lately even thought he emergency brake is released. If I engage the emergency brake the DRL indicator turns off as it should but the emergency...

Re: Where to get replacement key?

Once upon a time I took a worn out key to a locksmith and he was able to cut a copy that was less worn out. I don't believe locksmiths like the smith who cut that key are still in business. My lock...

Re: need some help finding a cheap bucket seat cover

I just went to a pick-n-pull and got a complete seat, I pulled one out of a SC2 with about 1/2 the miles and a few years newer. It's got some rash on the left bolster, I think that's because short...

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

I noticed that after a few seconds of trying to figure out how the engine might have been shoehorned in a saturn. It made me do a double take though.

Wonder what 1.9l engine was swapped into this SW2, it's definitely not a saturn engine.

Re: Cargo Platform on hitch thoughts please

I figured scraping should be spelled scrapping and collage should be spelled college. I guess I was wrong, scraping apparently pays better than your regular job. This must be an untapped resource,...

Re: Sunroof leaking on 97 SC1!

I caulked mine, one of the plastic pieces in the sunroof mech broke about 7 years ago and it was too expensive to repair. When it started leaking the first time I cleaned the drains, less than 6...

Re: Water Pump replacement...on a scale of 1 to 10

If it makes you feel any better I've replaced the water pump on my saturn twice, each time it's taken about 3 hours. The first time it took so long because I didn't figure out there's a hole in the...

Re: Perfect day at beach saved by spare C.P.S.

Next time you need to do a road side repair, drive one side of the car up onto a curb rather than using a jack. It's a lot harder for the car to fall off a curb than it is to fall off a jack. ...

Re: Think my cv joint is the culprit?

Come to think of it, the CV boot on my 96' SL2 was torn when I bought it back in 2003, since then I've put on over 100k miles without a thought about that torn boot, it may have completely...

Re: Misfire and Coolant leaking out of cap

LOL, plug wires on the wrong plugs would cause a misfire code wouldn't it? I'd spend money on a new radiator cap before anything else. At 221k you should be on your third or maybe 4th new cap, they...

Re: Car all the sudden won't crank

No crank when the engine is warm has always been my starter, it's happened to me 3 times now. Pull it of and bench test it, if the bearings sound noisy then you've found the problem.

Re: The future of fuel economy in the US.

You nailed that one. Fewer parts per million doesn't matter much when you've multiplied the number of millions does it?

Re: Need audio advice

Check the wiring at the wiring harness, if that's good check the wiring where it goes through the rubber hose at the door hinge, there's got to be a broken wire somewhere.

Does your amp have line...

Re: Trunk won't open

Did you try to lube the latch mechanism?

I actually crushed my popper by slamming the trunk lid down on a trunk full of cargo and that made it stop working using the trunk release in the car, I...

I think someone doesn't like Tommy much so they posted an inflamatory comment along with Tommy's email hoping that he'll get a bunch of unexpected hatemail. I'd be curious to know if the email...

My lame Toyota still starts in 1st even when the shifter is on 2, I guess it thinks traction control is supposed to keep me from slipping and I'm not smart enough to use 2nd gear.

I had a 65...

Re: Speakers

If you want loud music, or music you can hear from a distance you need an amp. I don't care what your speakers are rated for throwing 15 watts of distorted signal will destroy your speakers and...
