Re: No start, battery perfect. Solved

A few things were going on that finally needed fixing. Battery cable seemed a bit loose--aha jokes on me--step one. Check battery cables. It seemed so tight, but I wiggled the wires hard and the...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

I considered it, but now see enough wear that a new one is warranted. The one in there is a LUK, so it looks replace once in it's young life. Just kidding but at this point I could run it with a...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

Heres hoping to this--when I opened the switch, the grease in there was dried up quite a bit and was built up on the copper tips that make contact. I wiped it all clean and it fired right up. You...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

So I get it apart and all the wires look fine, I take off the ignition switch and no matter how much I fiddle with it, I can't even dim the lights. The strange telescoping steering wheel doesn't...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

All these clues finally sink in and then you start testing the obvious. I'll see once it warms up if that column movement is stopped by the length of the wires. If it is I'll pay extra attention to...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

It would make sense, but the turning of the wheel and it came back make me think I don't know:D. I remember a few times driving it would just about die, then pop right back to life, so that switch...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

The steering column is a little funky in that you could always pull it in and out a few inches. Wonder if something in there is acting up. But if there was a short in the clockspring or something...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

The plot thickens--I get a tow and as I turn the steering wheel, the lights flicker and then come on so it cranks right up and it's fine at the moment. Turning the wheel caused it to all work. This...

Re: No start, battery perfect.

Checked all fuses and they are good, even the auto seatbelt is in the middle when the car received no power--battery still perfect.

No start, battery perfect.

Sons 93 sc2 auto (86,000) miles. Today none of the lights came on anywhere in the car like its dead. Bring a volt meter and battery is perfect. Wiggled the key, was thinking of trying the usual,...

Re: Alternator help

Thanks, I even researched regulators, and they all seem to have the same lineup of S L R P or whatever, so it should be fine. I paged through the giant Mitchel manual but is vague as well. The...

Re: Excessive tire wear

One thing with the control arm is does it doe anything funny on a corner. When my ball joints were getting bad, the car would "fall" into the corner and turn suddenly quicker. When I had really bad...

Alternator help

This is for my 98 sl1. Didn't notice the pigtail had changed and ordered a wrong one. I cancelled quick, but they sent it anyway. The mistake is for a 91-92 but all the mounting bolts line up but...

Re: Engine flooding when cold.

This, one time fine, next time who knows. Thanks for not poking and hoping. I finally burned my starter out. $39 on amazon and it came overnight. First time fired right off, last night teens, no...

Re: Engine flooding when cold.

We made it to a whopping 17 yesterday, fired right off like no issues. Car had sat all night well below zero. My 93 with only 81,000 hasn't missed single start no matter the temp. All original...

Re: Engine flooding when cold.

Last night it runs, again -12F last night. I squirt starting fluid into the intake to see if it will at least fire, no luck. Older worn low compression motor and even more so cold, everything is...

Re: Engine flooding when cold.

I'm leaning to ignition related. I've had a few bad winter starters. Of course it can be all of the above, but when you replace the obvious and it still isn't a winter starter, it may be the state...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto. fixed

Swapped some parts into a newer cluster. There was some black flex circuit areas on the old one. Installed old odometer with the newer motor as well. Everything works fine. I read an older post...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

Well a new twist, now the odometer is adding miles about 15 to 1. So I drove around town and put on 70 miles. At this rate I'm getting massive MPG :p. Haven't gone out of town, so I don't know...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

Just the odometer drive area. As thin as you can, these things should need nothing. Can the motor run out of grunt as it gets faster?

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

I disassembled it all, used light hobby oil and everything spins freely. I doubt a constant set MPH would suddenly cause binding. If binding it would do so from multiple MPH. I can literally make...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

Put in the new eBay PCM and same thing. I did read how the electrics that in the cluster can loose an area, so I will go with that. The signal to the odometer is fine, but whatever sharing between...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

but the speedo needle starts to jump around after 55, so both act up, but at different speeds. I hate just buying parts, but it's so young I should bite the bullet. Since the odo/speedo just move...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

Reading old posts have some issues with the board in the speedo that counts the signal or the PCM. There was a mention that the car won't Rev past 4500 if it's the PCM?? Not sure what I want to...

Re: Odometer won't work after 46mph 93SC2 Auto

To clarify, over 46 it stops, so no highway miles are being recorded.
