Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

After trying another ECU from an automatic with no luck, I decided to spend the $100 on 4 new Delco coil packs. This seems to have fixed the starting issue. My daughters had the car for about a month...

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

It's the 2.2. At this point, the throttle body, complete fuel rail with injectors, fuel pump with filters/regulator, maf sensor, map sensor, purge valve have been changed. New plugs, filters and all...

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

Did warm and cold compression tests with the same results.

CYL 1 - 175
CYL 2 - 180
CYL 3 - 180
CYL 4 - 180

With the engine being mechanically in great shape, I've decided to try a new ECU....

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

The torque app with the bluetooth dongle seems to handle most live data pretty well. We hooked up my mechanic friends recently updated snap-on scan tool and saw mostly the same data. I don't love...

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

I did the coil test today and no issues starting it after installing the coils straight out of the freezer. They had been in there about 4 hours so they should have been as cold as they would be...

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

It definitely didn't jump timing. Car runs great once warmed up and going. It's too early to tell if we're burning oil. I changed the oil when we got it with cheap Walmart conventional since I had...

Re: Cold stalling and poor idle

Thanks for the reply. We did have a fuel pressure gauge on it. Initially, it would come up to around 55psi, and quickly drop off. After replacing the pump, filter and regulator, it comes up to 55-60...

Cold stalling and poor idle

Hey all. It's been a long time since I've been a regular poster here. I had a bunch of S series cars and eventually an Ion Redline going back 10-15 years.

I recently picked up a 2007 Ion coupe for...

Spoiler delete

I posted this in the redline forum, but thought it might be a good idea to post a link in the Ion general forum incase someone with a QC would be interested in an aero wing spoiler. I'm looking to go...

Trunk swap/purchase

I'm looking to go spoilerless on my 06 redline. I currently have the stock aero wing in red, and would be interested in swapping for a spoiler-less red trunk lid. I'm in the Rochester, NY area.

yet another trunk lid trade?

I have a red Aero wing on my 06 redline and would be interested in trading for a trunk lid with no spoiler. It is pretty much perfect aside from one spot the dealer used a dab of touch up paint on. I...

Re: New to the Ion crew

The high mileage is a synthetic blend as opposed to a full synthetic like mobil one or royal purple which are going to be more expensive. The car should get full synthetic only.

As for the fuel.....

Re: New to the Ion crew

Seriously. I wouldn't even consider putting 87 in mine.

Re: Wow, Should I do this?

Doesn't seem like a great deal. I bet it sits there for a while. I have basically the same thing in red, and bought it for about 22k a year ago. The dealer prob thinks he can get bluebook or near for...

Re: New to the Ion crew

Stage 3? Is that GM stage 3? If so that is fairly new and I'm skeptical that it's installed on that 04. I don't think GM stage 3 is even technically street legal. Also no A/C.

Maybe it's Intense...

Re: Ever see a Redline without the regular spoiler?

That's suggested retail from a dealer. Also there is no way to account for the comp package on KBB other than choosing "premium wheels" which only accounts for the wheels.

Saturns have a poor...

Re: Got my '06 RL!

I tried 6 this last change and I was most of a quart low.

Are you starting the car after filling it to let the new oil circulate and fill the oil filter?

I put 6 in, started it for a minute,...

Re: Got my '06 RL!

Filter is in the same spot, but there is a supercharger over it, and an intercooler fill along with tubing in front of it. Still, it's not that difficult to change. You can get the 7 quarts of mobil...

Re: Etc?

Nothing wrong with beating on a car that is meant to be beat on, but you should really break it in a bit nicer.

Re: Major Intake Change

The stock intake does in fact mostly draw cool air already. Most people that upgrade to an aftermarket system are doing it for the sound. It really makes the supercharger whine a lot louder. You can...

Re: Does the Ion RL last like the older Saturns?

Yeah I went for it last summer. I'm really happy with the power and handling etc, but already seeing some rattles and not so great interior craftsmanship. It's a blast to drive though. I might go...

Re: Bad Gas Mileage

Was just talking to the former owner, and he mentioned that he has a brass ects in it already. He thinks it's probably the o2 sensor since it is the original with 120k on it.

Re: Does the Ion RL last like the older Saturns?

I don't have any pics of his/your car in there. The dark blue sl2 was mine and the dark green with vinyl was another buddies. I really need to update that gallery someday. I have pics of the 99sc2 as...
