Re: 2000 Saturn LS1 Radio/Stereo Problems.

Fun fact: the stock radio has short circuit detection built in. If you have a short to ground or across the pair on any of the speaker wires then the radio will not have any output. The pop you year...

Re: "Change Oil Soon"....too soon?

That's interesting. Mine always goes off after 2500 km. I do a full synthetic oil change after the third reset. Its easy to reset, and it gives you an excuse to open the hood and check your fluids.

Re: 03 L200 4cyc. multiple weird issues

The first thing to check when you have multiple electrical glitches is to check that the battery, battery cable connections, the cables, and all the grounds are good. You need to cut off the plastic...

Re: 2001 LW300 Brake pads/rotors

Both of my L's are drums. I have done the drums a number of times, but I have not done a "How-To" because the rear drums are much more complicated with the E-Brake and self adjusters, so I don't want...

Re: Rear passenger e-brake stuck after not even using it on 2001 Saturn L200

If you don't regularly use your parking brake, there are some bad things that happen with drum brakes. The parking/emergency brake on these cars activates a pawl that moves the brake adjuster star...

Re: the car runs warmer than it used to

Have you tried cleaning the air side of the radiator by spraying it with a water hose.? I once had a car that started to run warm. I went through all the possible causes in the FSM, no luck. They had...

Re: 2001 LW300 Brake pads/rotors

I did this one quite some time ago. Charlie likes to hide these in the "How-To Library"

Re: No Start This Week

I already have that text in my FSM. I was trying to present the Coles (Cliffs) Notes version.

Re: L200 2.2L 120k on engine. Loud top end tick

Nah, just keep up the oil changes and Italian tune-ups. It will be fine. It appears you have found a "Granny" engine.

Re: 2001 Saturn L100, turbo?

The engine and trans from a Saab 9-3 should drop right in. It is the same basic engine and transmission*, but it comes with a free turbo and all the plumbing. It shouldn't even need new mounts....

Re: No Start This Week

UPDATE-
So I have the car back. The DTC's are P1632 (theft deterrent system fuel disabled) and B2960 (passlock cyl. data incorrect). Apparently the B2960 fault is very common in GM vehicles. The...

Re: No Start This Week

The Indie says there are two prime candidates - Passlock sensor or BCM. He says he pulled a couple of passlock codes. It is still in sick bay, with no diagnosis.

Re: L200 2.2L 120k on engine. Loud top end tick

OK, so it appears you have a sticky lifter. You should try something like Auto-RX to try to loosen it up.

Re: 03 saturn l300 NO START ISSUE!

I am thinking a wire with worn insulation or a break here, or a loose connector or something.

Re: L200 2.2L 120k on engine. Loud top end tick

The wrecker will usually be able to tell you how many miles are on the engines he supplies. Your post isn't 100% clear if you did the timing chain on your old engine or the (used) one currently...

Re: No Start This Week

I was a bit surprised by this, so I didn't make a detailed observation. But I think that I saw the "SECURITY" light flashing rapidly. I use my Saab Indie for anything I don't do myself. He also does...

I usually am the one offering some advice, but I had a problem this week that someone may have some ideas on. 2000 LS-1 2.2 5MT. I went to start the car to go to work. It briefly caught, but then...

Re: 6 random questions. 2001 Saturn L100?

PB Blaster is another "Name" penetrating oil. Regarding disc resurfacing, this is usually not required with a pad change. If the disc is toast, it should be replaced. Normal light ridging of the...

Re: Failed inspection: p0455 Evaporative emission control system leak detected

@ Cityhawk - The purge solenoid is possible, but not probable. When this code shows up on a post, I look at the location. You are in Boston. The OP is in Texas. You most likely have corroded vent...

Here's another one. Look hard, as there is no picture and the Tacoma data overlaps. But there it is at #10. BTW, I am just at 350,000km/220,000mi.

Re: 2000 Saturn L300 massive coolant leak

Just FYI - Saab recommended that the TB be changed at 100,000 km/60,000 mi on the same engine. If exposed to oil or coolant, the belt could deteriorate very rapidly.

Re: Ses p0050

You should not compare the tightening torque to the torque required to remove the old O2 sensor. The corrosion on the old one will result in much higher torque. But you should look up the torque...

Re: 2000 Saturn LW2; oil looks milky; needs new head gasket?

I have learned that you must be especially skeptical about buying lightly used cars. This is very hard duty. Far better to go for a high mileage highway driven one with a stack of receipts. The...
