Re: Unlocking Theft Deterrent Radio

Used this method just now on a 2nd gen S-Series CD player with the 106010 dealer code and it works great.

Re: Inner door panel clips?

I hate to dredge up an old thread, but I didn't see it posted here or anywhere else. At NAPA, Balkamp p/n 665-2057 is an exact replacement for the black push pin and p/n 665-2342 is an exact...

Re: The definitive guide to Gen3 S-series instrument cluster bulb replacement

I know this is an older thread, but I found some other stock style replacement bulbs if you don't want to mess with the LED's (me) and I thought it would be good to capture in here.

Osram-Sylvania...

Re: Cast Dog Bones with Poly Inserts

Previous owner had all of the engine mounts and torque struts replaced by a Saturn dealer about 7 years ago.

Sorry should have mentioned this was on my '95 SW2.

Cast Dog Bones with Poly Inserts

I was doing some inspection on my car yesterday and noticed the bushings in the engine and trans dog bones seemed to have quite a bit of movement in them. I would like to install the poly inserts in...

Re: Manual Transmission/Clutch/Crank Questions

I'm not assuming he's going to source the wrong motor. I am playing the odds that the engine he gets will probably come from a car with an automatic transmission. I'd say that's pretty safe given the...

Manual Transmission/Clutch/Crank Questions

I've got a friend with a '03 Vue with the 2.2L and a 5 speed manual transmission (Getrag F23 I presume). He had a rod knock and drove it until the engine blew. He is getting a used engine which I...

Re: Help?

I have to rehang the exhaust heat shields on my wife's car every couple of years. I've replaced the original rivets with screws with larger washers to hold them up. After a while the heat shield...

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

Two nuts loosened and one nut came off completely. Perhaps this is an abnormal problem and I am the first to experience it. Or maybe I am the first to investigate the issue to this degree whereas...

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

Well I finally was able to make it to the junkyard today where I liberated a brake master cylinder/ABS modulator/ABS motor and pump assembly from a '96 SL2. After getting back home I took out the air...

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

I guess we'll just have to disagree on this. Consider ABS fault code 42: "Rear ESB does not hold motor - The expansion spring brakes (ESB) are used on both front and rear actuator motor assemblies....

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

I understand what you are saying, but this seems contradictory to what the FSM says on the matter. According to that when the pump pistons are in the home position and it is operating is base brake...

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

Well that was a bust. I had a bad hub laying around, but I could not get a consistent reading on the resistance of the sensor. I threw it on there anyway, and the problem still persisted....

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

Yes I've tested the resistance of all sensors and checked the gap on the front sensors. The FSM has different resistances for the sensors based on ambient temperature and three of them were within...

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

On startup the ABS and brake light illuminate and then turn off as normal. At 7mph it makes the clicking and beeping sounds, but then the ABS and brake light come on. It has been a while since I've...

Re: '95 ABS Code Reader

I was under the impression that ABS codes used a different communication protocol and could not be "flashed" like PCM codes.

'95 ABS Code Reader

I've been searching around here and other places over the past few days trying to get an answer to this, but have not found anything definitive. I've got a '95 SW2 that has the ABS light come on...

Re: Front end creaky groan with knock sound

Last summer I had a similar creak/groan from my sway bar bushings. While I was trying to figure out where the noise was coming from I worked some wheel bearing grease into the bushing and the noise...

Rear wheel bearing removal tip

I wish I could say I'd thought of this, but I can't. I had to replace a rear wheel bearing on my wagon. Like most everyone else it wasn't a simple matter of just removing the four bolts and having...

Re: AC engaged = Sluggish performance

That button is referred to as the "turbo" button in my wife's SOHC. I don't even bother turning that on until I'm up to speed on the highway.

Re: Car pulls to left, not good.

Yup. Look at the sliders and calipers to make sure they aren't frozen and flexible brake hoses for signs of swelling.

Re: Shifter cables snapped AGAIN (2002 Saturn SL1)

I'm pretty sure those are automatic trans cables and for use with their respective shifter, but not 100%. I think Dorman is the only 5 speed cable available aftermarket. Take the advice given and...
