the most prone cause of noise on a 1st gen VUE is the sway bar links. there are better ones you can get that have greasable joints, try to find those. if you don't change them yourself, a shop can do...

the hot tip would be to pull the whole rear suspension from an early twin cam car to get the rear sway bar and rear...

the FIRST thing to check when a battery is dead is if your charging system is operating properly. batteries don't generally just 'die' w/o a cause, usually a bad alternator, or bad connections.

you need to do the math on how much % bigger your tires are now. the MPH and MPG will both show lower than actual. you effectively raised your final drive ratio which would also cause it to downshift...
