Re: Engine/trans removal out the top?
It's real simple; I have all kinds of hoisting equipment, but no practical/safe way to raise the car two feet in the air to drop out the subframe/cradle. I don't have the car here at the moment, so...

Engine/trans removal out the top?
Did a search, no luck. Can you pull the engine and trans together out the top? For various reasons, dropping the cradle is an issue...

Re: need serious help..
You have other options. Saturn is fairly locked in to doing things in a certain way, I'm surprised they are even considering a used engine, so try local shops for a tranplanted good used head. ...

Mars, what torque did you go to?
This is really shocking to hear, there is plenty of meat around spark plug holes. I could believe stripping out the threads, but cracking the head enough to allow...

Re: oil filter change without changing the oil?
If it is going off at EXACTLY 5,000.00 miles every time, I'd suspect some sensor that enters into the calculation is bad, or something else like the thermostat is mechanically bad. It sounds like a...

Re: oil filter change without changing the oil?
Filters actually work better and better the longer they are in; that is, they collect finer and finer stuff. They need changing only when there is a risk of the pressure drop across the media...

Re: 32mm wrench for oil change?
+1 -- even with a 1.25" socket, it should be a 6-point, or you risk damage. I heard a terrible >CRACK< sound getting mine off after a dealer oil change...

Re: RPMs do not drop while coasting
I'm not familiar with the 2.4 specifically, but a hanging high idle speed on most engines is a problem with either TPS or idle air control valve, or a vacuum leak. Could also be crap on the throttle...

Re: DIY Wheel Bearing Change - Need some info
On the contrary, I'd get a quality 3/4" breaker or rent one. A cheap tool is likely to break under load, and damage either the car or someone near it. We're talking about 200+ ft-lbs here.

Re: DIY Wheel Bearing Change - Need some info
You risk injury using 1/2" drive tools for the nut; many tool rental stores will rent a 3/4" drive (breaker bar) set with HD sockets for small cost. A 1/2" ratchet with a cheater is a very very bad...

I see you're in Nebraska; lots of UV and low humidity. Any rubber will eventually decay under those conditions. That is a problem in NM too, and I haven't found anything (ArmorAll, etc) that...

Re: 2004 Ion CVT help
Just curious, what do you think of the CVT driving experience, when all is well? I think it would drive me crazy to have near constant RPM!

Re: MP# player input jack location
The kind you are looking for was on '06's; there is a headphone jack in the lower right corner of the radio faceplate, where you can plug in an MP3 Player or iPod.

Re: windshield wiper linkage?
Well, it's been about 18 months since I bought one, the price could have gone up. That's a pretty steep jump, but parts are a real money maker for auto makers.

Re: windshield wiper linkage?
I wouldn't buy a used one on a bet, buy a new one at the Saturn dealer. It's going to cost $80 +/-.
Just for the record, it is a really crappy design, but it's Bosch's design, not GM's. That's...
