Re: Bump Steer

Could also be an alignment issue. Excessive camber or toe out will cause the car to bump steer or "dart" towards things. Could've been knocked out of alignment from hitting something (potholes,...

Re: Farewell and thank you. Parts for sale.

For the whole exhaust, how does 100$ CAD plus shipping sound? Your dollar is a lot stronger than ours right now and that puts you in a good position. Its just the shipping that will be killer.

Re: Farewell and thank you. Parts for sale.

As for the muffler, I'm not sure i really want to cut it off. Id like to sell the exhaust in one piece and id rather it be local because its so large and a hassle to ship.

Re: Farewell and thank you. Parts for sale.

It is a shame and i really hate to see it go, but you have to remember that up here in Ontario cars tend to rust pretty quickly. At 15 years old, my underbody is looking questionable.

Hi all,

I just wanted to say thanks to all who have helped me keep my beloved saturn on the road over the past 3 years that I have owned it. This was my first car and this forum has helped me...

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

Hate to resurrect a thread, but here goes.

Wheel vibration is still there and just as bad as ever. I'm a bit at a loss with this.

The next possible culprit to me seems to be the CVs. The only...

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

Yes, the hum has gone away and the front end feels tighter.

I haven't switched to my winters because they are away in storage.

I will switch to them shortly and report what i find

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

I've fully aligned the car now and it appears the clunk has gone away.

As for the tires, i only have another month or so before I switch to winters, so i'll just get new ones next summer.

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

Just wanted to report back my situation:

Installed 2 new SKF bearings and hubs. The old ones were completely shot, especially the right one. Aligned the car all up afterwards.

Car definitely...

Porcelain looks pretty good. Slight brownish discoloration on one side, but overall is cream-tan colour. Electrode still square and clean, ground electrode has slight black deposits but nothing big....

Re: Rich running & rough starts

Yep, removed and cleaned EGR valve. Wasn't too bad surprisingly.

Checked fuel pressure when cold, engine was stuttering all the while reading ~48psi....

I guess that's not the problem. Maybe...

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

Ordered a set of SKF hubs & bearings through my school. Got a pretty good deal!

86$ CAD each.

I'll let you know I how it goes when i get around to it. Most likely this weekend.

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

Well, measured the hubs and the right one is shot. That couldexplain why it wore out that bearing. So i think i'll replace both front hubs & bearings.

Any recommendations for which ones to use?

Re: Rich running & rough starts

Finally got around to testing the pressure:

Key on, 44 psi.
Idle, 50 psi.

These numbers seem fine, however i'd like to test it with a cold engine because that's mostly when the rough start...

Re: 2015 SCCNA Calendar Submit your best image here

Thanks Sid.
I commute with that car everyday and honestly, i dont find it particularly squirrelly even in the worst of conditions. On bad roads it does have a tendency to pull into ruts and bumps...

Re: Rich running & rough starts

Car has 185k KM's which is about 110k miles. I was worried that it might be fuel related. First ill check fuel pressure then report back what i find.

Re: 2015 SCCNA Calendar Submit your best image here

Here is my gold 2000 SL2.

It is mostly stock, with some mild handling upgrades (KYB struts, 16" wheels and -1.5 degrees camber front & back, sticky sport tires). I keep it nice and clean; it's...

Re: Rich running & rough starts

I had replaced the plastic tip one with a brass Delphi unit. All i'm saying is the old one was not cracked when i removed it; therefore the wires are not damaged. I did it as a preventative measure. ...

Re: Persistent wheel vibration

I think i may just do axles & bearings in one shot. I'll update this thread if it fixes it.

Right now however my priority is on my other issue, as described in my other thread.

Rich running & rough starts

Hi all,

Yet another issue with my car lately. This one is a challenge. The issue has been inconsistent until now which has made it very difficult to diagnose.

The car starts no problem, but...
