Re: 2002 SC2 Power Steering Replacement (Noise)

My OE leaked all over after a couple years. Tried the seal and it failed, then found a TSB here on the forums concerning shaft tolerances. Bought a reman that has been quiet and trouble free for...

Re: Looking for an OEM block heater

If you get the right size it could work. In the long run it will do the same thing used on the oil pan, as the pan heater will also warm some of the lower parts of the block.

The heater hose unit...

Re: A 2001 SC2 "BUMBLEBEE EDITION" 99 were made, where are they?

No real question, I had just thought that the one you mentioned in the past was yours and not his. I scrolled back to see the number and realized the other one was your brothers car.

Glad you...

Re: Looking for an OEM block heater

A good and much more concise follow up to my "if you have a plug in point that will support it" comment. For me personally anything heat related on these cars and I'd just wire another circuit.

Re: A 2001 SC2 "BUMBLEBEE EDITION" 99 were made, where are they?

I was going to ask about your previous one, but scrolled back on this thread and saw that the other was your brothers. Glad to see some of them are still around, hope it works out well.

Re: Looking for an OEM block heater

Some of the fairly small 12V units actually work fairly well if you have a plug in point that will support it. I ran into a guy that had one that I questioned when I saw it because it looked like an...

Re: Hesitation after 1/4 temp guage AND constant speed

I'd check all the basic tune stuff. Wires, plugs, ECTS, electrical connections. Some hesitations and misfires will only happen once the mixture is leaned towards normal, and warm up mixture will...

Re: SW2 Halloween Costume

That's awesome. You should take a photo to replace your avatar photo... it looks like the scale is just about right!

Re: Battery Covers

The '95 I still drive was purchased new and had no plastic cover. It does have a foam type wrap that I still have on the replacement battery.

As for either helping battery life, in theory it...

Re: How should i remove stickers from my SC2?

For easy to find stuff Goo Gone works fairly well. Isopropyl alcohol works but not as well, and you have to watch the stronger stuff on certain surfaces.

Almost all the stuff used in the sign...

Re: SW2 Halloween Costume

That's working out fairly well, it looks really good. Running in it might be another story. Just don't fall and break the thing!

Re: “Coated” Wheel Weights

Interesting. I've seen sign materials that are coated on one side and magnetic. It might just be a similar product with a higher plastic content or something.

As long as they don't mess with the...

Re: Should I actually bother with buying a Saturn? Semidisabled novice needs advice..

Scrimbus,

We've owned a '95 single cammer since we purchased it new, and overall I'd say it's a reliable and easy to work on car. The common issues that happen are easy and cheap to fix, and the...

Re: Challenged to a drag race

I think you should both be jailed for spending the effort on doing a lot of work for a drag race when instead you could just spend the effort turning the Grand National into a street rocket.

Re: Weird EGR problem. Code P0401 "insufficient flow".

In the case of my car, I consider it mild detonation at the worst, and haven't concerned myself with it. The outside temp must be cooler and the car temp on the way up, but it's a small window it...

You're speaking of the transition from open to closed loop on start up, I'm speaking of the transition from closed loop (after initial starting warm up) to open loop due to heavy throttle...

Re: No heat and no pressure at resevoir cap

I'd check coolant temp in the reservoir at operating temp, after checking out the top hose during a cold start warm up. If the thermostat is bad and the ECTS/gauge isn't showing it, you might kill...

Re: 1996SL11.9L's 2002 SL1

I've never used a battery maintainer or such device in the Saturn, and have had amazing battery life out of an Autozone red battery. We get a lot more of the hot temps than the cold, but do see...

Re: Weird EGR problem. Code P0401 "insufficient flow".

Under certain conditions my '95 SL1 will do the same thing. Usually at freezing or so temps, and for a very brief period during the warm up. Moderate throttle and load.

If I baby it until engine...

Re: What battery are you using

I have an Autozone red battery in the Saturn, and it's the only battery other than the factory battery that has been in the car. It's lasted wwwaaaayyy longer than expected out of any battery.
