Re: Trade-In Value

I told of my trade in value experience in this thread. For what it is worth.
It was nearly a year ago.

Re: Upper strut mount and swaybar link replacement

Strut mounts.
I replaced both on the '08 VUE we owned. They are less than $60.00 each on rockauto.com, but unless you are comfortable with doing such work probably not for most DIY'ers.
Mostly...

Re: 2008 vue xr

The '08 VUE we owned had a random dead battery problem.

Every now and then the battery would be dead in the morning just as you describe.
A jump would start it right up, and then it would be fine...

Re: Update on my 08 Vue

A whirring sound is usually the sign of a bad wheel bearing hub.

Re: vue 08 wontstart onstar battery problem?

Days after we bought our used '08 VUE, it wouldn't start.

After a call to the dealer, I jump started it and drove it over to them.
The OnStar battery was dead along with the car battery itself....

Re: 2008 Vue XR transmission problems

Ours had to be rebuilt at 72,000 miles. Just got in before the 5 year warranty expired.

My thread from that time.

Re: Traded in Wife's '08 VUE on new Fiat 500. Fight for your Saturn's value!

Yeah, I remember those Fiats of the 70's.
But you never know how a car will be as far as problems go. So far it seems to be a very sturdy little car.

We loved the VUE, it was a good car overall....

Re: VUE is at GM dealer. 6T70 Transmission 3-5 wave plate on it's way out.

Really sorry to hear about your problem.
Since this is such a well known problem with this transmission, which has been used in many GM and Ford vehicles, (They worked together on the engineering of...

Re: Traded in Wife's '08 VUE on new Fiat 500. Fight for your Saturn's value!

We would have accepted $8500. ;)
I think they were so determined to make it right by us, and make the sale they went a little higher.

They have it listed for sale at $11,999.
Just stock...

Re: rearview mirror removal

That's strange. I tapped out a reply using my smartphone one night, but apparently I wasn't smart enough to get it to post. :hmm:

Basically, my response was that I can understand your apprehension...

Traded in Wife's '08 VUE on new Fiat 500. Fight for your Saturn's value!

Sorry to see it go, but the Wife wanted something with much better gas mileage, and of course the all important " It's so cute!" factor. :D

I have to admit, of all the...

Re: rearview mirror removal

Why do you think someone that removes and replaces rear view mirrors day in, day out, perhaps hundreds a year would damage it? Did you have it happen before?

Re: Rust already!

I'll have to take a close look at that area of the latch you mention on ours.
One thing that did happen in that latch area, was the part of the gate you pull up on after you hit the button, cracked...

Re: Rust already!

Heated parking?
Cars parked in heated garages during the winter tend to rust prematurely.

I've replaced our sway bar links. And the strut mounts rattle and clatter over bumps when it is cold...

Re: Thinking About Getting An Ion

I have to agree.
We owned an '06 ION Quad Coupe.
My complaints were the usual front suspension rattles by 40k, and poor driver visibility. I felt there were a lot of blind spots that made it kind...

Re: VUE is at GM dealer. 6T70 Transmission 3-5 wave plate on it's way out.

In the case of our '08 VUE, I was a bit surprised it was rebuilt right there at the dealership.
I initially thought they would just swap the old transmission out for a service unit whether that be...

To supplement that, and to keep busy I...

Re: To change or not to change (oil)

I'm with others that say don't change it.
It would be a waste of money and good oil in my opinion.
Whatever minuscule amount of moisture is there will dissipate once driven and brought fully up to...

You and me both felt lucky it was still under warranty! I don't know what we would have done if we had to pay out of pocket for the repair.

Re: Blue vs Pink Washer Fluid

One costs more than the other, and both do the same thing.
I stock up on the cheaper blue when I find it on sale.

Re: BEWARE! Worst Oil To Put In Your Engine

I would never, ever, consider buying some strange generic brand of oil. That stuff looks like something that would be sold at a dollar store.
Surprised the word Oil isn't spelled as Oyl. :snide:

Re: 2008 VUE 2nd battery failed

This is interesting to me.
Our '08 VUE has had this mysterious parasitic drain that only happens every once in a while ever since we bought it in 2009.
Out of the blue the battery will be dead,...
