Re: what's that sound?

99% guarantee you have ABS and that evil sound is GM/Saturn's way of telling you you won't be able to stop in an emergency if you're not on dry pavement with fairly sticky tires.

You can go...

Re: Help with My 94 SL2

engine temp, air temp and transmission temp (automatic only) sensors are the same part #, '91-'95 also have an engine temp sender for the gauge on the dash.

Re: Help with My 94 SC2

Code 25= Air temp sensor reading over 257f.

If anything, unplug that to see if it change's anything. It's a $12 sensor (same as ECTS).

Re: bought first saturn....having a/c issues

Check if pin 87 on the relay is connected to the green wire at the a/c compressor. If there is, that's really strange that no power goes through but if it isn't connected then there's a break in the...

Re: 2002 SL2 front brakes upgrade?

That particular Subaru got traded for a legit off-road vehicle ('96 Ram 1500 w/ 3" body lift and soon to be dana 60 front 70 or 80 rear) :D Still have a Forester for DD.

Re: Parts comparability between 96 and 98 sl2

He'll have to swap the fuel rail over from the '98 engine to the '96. Clean the area first so when the injectors come out they don't get covered in gunk.

Keep whichever manifold and downpipe that...

Re: aldl port

Unlike 2nd gen's where you can use a paper clip to program remotes and change what the alarm does with 3rd gens they have to plug a Tech II into the communication port to program remotes.

Re: 2002 SL2 front brakes upgrade?

Pretty sure 99% of the guys in the 400whp+ club use factory calipers.

Unless you fancy tearing apart the rear calipers every 6 months to relube the slide pins just replace/rebuild the factory drum...

Re: Rough idle

Valve cover gasket is pre-formed RTV, once it starts leaking it's time for a new pre-formed RTV gasket (straight RTV makes it freaking annoying to get the valve cover off ever again).

Re: Engine falls flat/no power

P0172 cause's according to AllData:
FP High (40-55 psi is good, yours is 47-49psi)
Injector Leaking (doubt it'd blow a fuse if it's simply leaking)
Upper O2 sensor contaminated (doubtful)
MAP...

Re: 2002 SL2 front brakes upgrade?

Get quality rotors that won't rust out in a year (they have a coating on the hub and in the cooling vanes) and get quality pads such as EBC GreenStuff.
I don't believe any other calipers bolt-on,...

Re: Which of the 1st Gen's major problems carried over to the 2nd Gen?

Those are common traits to the S-Series, not just 1st gens.
'97's have the added fun of a semi-recalled fuel pump (if a PO caught it by ~2000 they fixed it for free) for a failed check valve...you...

Re: Stuck Bolts - EGR Valve & Throttle Body

I usually wack the bar or ratchet with my palm, on that muscley area where the thumb bone connects to the wrist. If that fails, or I have to hit hard enough for it to hurt just a bit I move up to...

Re: resonator to cat nut & bolt sizes ???

Meh, 15 seconds with a 4.5" angle grinder beats fighting a sawzall any day.

Get whatever nuts fit the bolts you get, probably M8 size but you might fit a M10. 50mm long should do it but 55-60mm...

Re: annoying engine ticking sound - watch the video

Neither does WIX. Wix 51516XP is the right number.

Napa GOLD = WIX (unless things changed recently...)
Pretty sure it's Napa Gold 1516/WIX 51516 :)

Re: tackling the valve cover gasket

Torque spec is 7.41ft/lbs (89in/lbs). That's crazy light. Much over 12ft/lbs of force snaps the bolt so make sure the threads are clean before starting.

Thank you, I knew '91 was all kinds of...

Re: annoying engine ticking sound - watch the video

Buy it anyway, works fine. Just has more detergents in it than gas engine specific oils.

Although, unless it's $20 shipped 2day like Amazon offers w/Prime it's overpriced......

Re: 2000 1.9 dohc timing question

90 past TDC on the crankshaft ensures the pistons won't smash the valves when rotating the camshaft into position.
Rotate camshafts until the 3/16in drill bit can be installed.
Rotate crankshaft...

Re: 94 SC2 automatic seatbelts

#16 25a "natural" color in the IPJB is the passive restraint (PREST or P REST) fuse.

Interesting tidbit: '91 and unmodified '92's got a 20a PREST fuse which was found to be too small in real-world...
