Re: Engine swap questions 96 to 99

That's a 9 bolt exhaust manifold. You can count 7 bolts easy, the other 2 are hidden by the A/C compressor. Lucky for you it doesn't have the AIR system to screw with things. You'll have to keep the...

Re: Reading vs Scanning Codes?

I've only limited experience with Autozone, but they seem to be the "lets hire the highschool kid" parts store.
Unless you're in CA, having the codes read is free or under $20. Free at any parts...

Re: Replacement Lower Control Arms

Went with Moog's for my SC2. They seem to be more reliably close to OEM quality without totally breaking the bank like OEM.

In my experience it's not the nut that's ever an issue, its the bolt....

Re: Need to remove engine in a 2002 SL1 manual

Same way you do when it is there, though to have to angle the back/hose end of the slave down so the actuator end is up until it hits the fork inside the transmission. I've not had it fall/pull out...

Re: Brake light short?

Odd. I thought only the dome light & sunroof motor wire's went up there, must be unique to SL's with the 3rd brake light.

Re: Rear Deck Mounted Subwoofer

I've seen a couple people put an 8" sub in the center back there. Not sure what they did for an enclosure, never saw the underside pics.

I plan on using a pair of 6x9's. Each one has the same SA...

Re: Rear Trailing Arm

Not safe to drive with, it holds the rear tire from folding into the rear quarter panel. All that will be holding it are the very weak latteral links.

Same part '91-'02 but left & right are...

Re: Manual tranny only shifts with engine off!

My '96 started doing kinda the same thing when warm. I want to blame the hydraulics but I already swapped 'em out (freaking complicated with that stupid ABS module in the way). I doubt 2 sets of...

Re: remote entry to lock and unlock car door

Cheaper on eBay, though they seem to be more expensive than I remember: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1&_nkw=AB01502T&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Re: What years can i take a door off to fit on a 96 sl?

Depends on what you mean by fit. If you want it to bolt on without hours of fiddling, buy another car...the doors are custom fit to the chassis at the factory.

'96-'99 SL & SW's are the same so...

Re: trailing a car

That's a silly idea for a FWD.
No need to raise the front wheels off the ground when leaving the ignition in "ACC" instead of "Run" prevents mileage from accumulating while still leaving the column...

Re: Emissions Fail 1995 SC1 149k

Do you remember the compression numbers? From what I've seen the 150psi that most (older?) engines call for is far below the minimum service limit (180psi) for the S-Series; new/perfect condition...

Re: trailing a car

Easy to do '95-'97, I'm sure '91-'94 is just as easy but I've not personally taken that generation cluster apart to see. Kinda stumbled onto how easy it is when I fubar'd the trip meter in one...

Re: 98 SC2 wont start

Do you have the part number for the FPR/filter you used?

If the fuel pressure gauge can't be put in a place to see between the dash & hood from the driver seat, mark the hood mounting brackets and...

Re: bolt on turbo??

I had an '89 Saab 900 SPG. ~8psi and 185-190hp. A stock SC2 would outrun it, if you could even get the truck shifter to work good enough to not have a 10s 0-60, and that was the fastest 900...

Re: Need new hub assembly front left

It's more labor intensive than an oil change but not by much IMO. 4 bolts and the knuckle comes off (use a sharpie to mark the knuckles location on the strut so you don't require an alignment...

Re: Dome lights

Maybe I read the description wrong:

Looking at it now...looks like it's the same part for all models but the wagon requires 2.

They're the same for '97 so I imagine they'd be the same for 1st gens.
NalleyGMC seems to indicate that the dome light is unique to the Wagon however :( ...

Re: Good Plastic Body Panel Glue ?

car-part.com should give you an idea of what yards are available and their contact info. Nearly all of them in my area are useless unless you call them ahead of time and at least one gets annoyed...

Re: Brake light short?

The trunks like to leak water so start by checking the brake light bulbs. Pretty sure on the sedans you can check the bulbs (and connector) without removing the housing but if not, it should be a T15...

Re: What is this color and code?

Dupli-Color calls it Gold Mica.
My '96 SC2's call it U5337 (I think it's a 7, most of the code is gone).
My '97 SW2 calls it U5333.
Paintscratch.com calls it WA5333 (sample color code makes it...

Re: Flat Faced Valves

I wouldn't be surprised if someone on sixthsphere has a set for sale but the site seems to be borked today.

Re: Flat Faced Valves

Most of the rebuilds I've read about people re-use '91-'93 valve's.

LMAO @ SI Valve's. Can't look up Saturn under "Domestic Car's", have to go under "Import/Foreign Car's". Yeah....great company...

Pull the one marked as PCM-B on the fuse box cover.
Richpin is great & all, but lots of his specific info such as this is generation specific and to my knowledge he's only done 2nd gen S-Series...
