Re: Parting Out 96 SC2 In Black Gold Color + Many More S Series Parts, Various Years

No worries. I see what you're saying, and and it's not a crack, just part of the molding process I suppose. I can't see any visible flaws in the button.

Re: Parting Out 96 SC2 In Black Gold Color + Many More S Series Parts, Various Years

Yup I have it. Looks to be in good shape, came from an auto so was likely not used much. You need the black handle too or just the button? The black handle is not leather wrapped, FYI. $15 shipped,...

Parting Out 96 SC2 In Black Gold Color + Many More S Series Parts, Various Years

I have a 96 Saturn SC2 that I am parting out. The car was the Black Gold color, automatic, black cloth interior, and had 168k miles. The car is now gone, I only have what I stripped off, but I took...

Re: Valentine One Radar Detector in 96 SC2 - Where to mount for stealth install?

Gee, thanks dad. I should have expected these types of responses here. Nevermind, I'll figure it out on my own.

Valentine One Radar Detector in 96 SC2 - Where to mount for stealth install?

I would like to buy a Valentine One radar detector for my 96 SC2 but wish to mount it discretely. I don't want to leave it out in the open when I park, don't want to have to remove it every time I...

Anyway to make cooling fan engage automatically before 220 degrees?

Right now I just turn on the AC every time the engine temp starts to creep up to 200 degrees or so when sitting in traffic, but I'm getting tired of doing that. I don't want to wire a switch and keep...

Looking for list of reasons the service wrench light illuminates

I remember seeing a list of all the reasons that the service wrench light can be tripped several years back. I was wondering if anyone has that list. For a 96 SC2. Thanks!

Re: Oil consumption increasing. Considering switching back to conventional oil to sav

I could certainly live with a tablespoon/500 miles. I'm doing the BG 109 treatment and switching to the fixed orifice pcv within the next week. I hope it makes a difference, I'm leaving for a 3400...

Re: Oil consumption increasing. Considering switching back to conventional oil to sav

Thanks for the tips... I just ordered the fixed orifice pcv valve, and a container of BG 109... I'll give that a shot. I've done MMO and seafoam in the past but never really noticed a difference from...

Re: Oil consumption increasing. Considering switching back to conventional oil to sav

Thanks for the input guys. I'll check out the SuperTech oil from walmart, that sounds a lot more reasonable. And yes, I have changed my pcv valve, several times. I usually do it every year, but it's...

Oil consumption increasing. Considering switching back to conventional oil to save $$

I have a 96 SC2 with 265k on the body, about 185k on the motor. I bought the car with a blown engine and bought a junkyard motor with 49k miles. Since I did the engine swap, I've used only mobil 1...

Re: p1404 code keeps coming back, even after replacing EGR

Got it from advance auto. I just got back from vacation, which involved a 4200 mile drive. No CEL for the first 500 miles, then it tripped like 5 times in the next 1000 miles, then nothing for the...

Re: Steering Column Rattle Fix

Well, although it's still better than the way it was, it's not as quiet as I first thought. I just went on a 4200 mile round trip drive and there's definitely still a lot of rattling going on....

p1404 code keeps coming back, even after replacing EGR

I recently got a p1404 code (EGR Valve Closed Pintle Position)on my 96 SC2. I decided to just replace it instead of attempting cleaning it since the EGR has around 175k on it. I replaced the EGR,...

Re: Steering Column Rattle Fix

Just had that top bearing replaced with the one from my spare column and that took care of 80% of the noise. I have 20k+ on my Anchor brand top motor mount, which usually start to wear out around...

Re: Steering Column Rattle Fix

Thanks for the info. I just took it to my mechanic along with a spare steering column I already had in my basement. He thinks the play is in the top part of the steering column. He took apart the old...

Re: Steering Column Rattle Fix

I have a pretty annoying rattle that seems to be coming form my steering column as well, but not sure if it's this bearing or not. I'm going to take it to my mechanic in a week or two, but I was...

Re: Dome light not coming on when drivers door is open, switch is good

I tried feeding my light a healthy snack but it wasn't hungry. LOL! I did try smacking it and moving the selector switch around as suggested but no luck.

Re: Dome light not coming on when drivers door is open, switch is good

I'm not sure where the wires from the door switch go after they leave the sensor, but I am guessing it runs up to the front of the car somewhere. The plug for the door sensor is not near the counsel...
