Re: 2001 Saturn L200 - Loss of power-bogs out when attempting to accelerate.

Hmm. . .

When I pulled the O2 Sensor on mine to test the cat I noticed a couple of cracks in the manifold. That might explain my P0172's.

Re: L100: Sudden Power Loss, storing P0300 and P0172, 2.2l Ecotec

Umm. . .

238K?

Practically a baby right? :D

Seriously, though, if that's what it is, it is what it is, and I'll milk what I can out of it while seeking a replacement car. I'm just puzzled...

Re: L100: Sudden Power Loss, storing P0300 and P0172, 2.2l Ecotec

Pulled the front 02 sensor and took it for a test drive. Still very little power, odd shiftpoints, not much pickup. It might be a little better than with it in, but not enough so that I can be...

Re: L100: Sudden Power Loss, storing P0300 and P0172, 2.2l Ecotec

Nope, I meant the speedo. Displays about 20MPH or so. Odometer increments as if the car is moving at that speed too. It's not entirely consistent, but I've observed the phenomenon twice.

L100: Sudden Power Loss, storing P0300 and P0172, 2.2l Ecotec

Narrative:

A few weeks ago I filled up with gas, topped up oil (which had got too low too fast) and got on the highway. There was a sound - a ping perhaps - and I suddenly had a lot less power...

Re: 2002 L100, 2.2l: Random Hesitatation

P0440 has been present as long as I've had the car. I've replaced the fuel cap, no change. If I clear the code, I can go through about a tank and a half of gas before it reappears, and this remains...

2002 L100, 2.2l: Random Hesitatation

I've been getting hesitation recently, increasingly often as time passes. It feels like a momentary loss of fuel or spark. When it happens, if I increase pedal pressure, the engine responds...

Tire eating Saturns

$$$$? Really? I got an estimate of only $$$. Does yours dip them in coffee or milk as it eats them. I suspect mine prefers tea. I just switched from Firestone to Entenmann's but at this rate,...

Re: Help or advice needed for L200 rear suspension

Same problem, difference Tire Shop. The shop identified the Control Arm bushings being worn as the reason the rear tires won't hold an alignment. Quoted $500.00 P&L to fix. Looked at job on All...

Re: Buying a L Series -What should I look for beyond basics?

2002 2.2l >220K. In its third year with me.

Needed a water pump in July, which I did myself, and a Starter in January which I had a local shop do because I'm not replacing a starter in January in...

Re: Brake light problems

There are them that know better than me, but my off the cuff guess is that there's a short in a taillight assembly that is allowing power to move between the brake light circuit and the parking light...

Re: Is the engine in LW200 same as my SL2?

Looking at a 4Cyl?

It's the EcoTec engine. Very different than the S-Series engines, but solid, reliable workhorses - mine is working toward 300,000mi.

Not quite as straightforward to work on...

Re: PCM replacement

Car=?

This code for a 2.2l L100 means "coolant temp below thermostat regulating temp."

Taken at its word, it would imply an early opening thermostat.

Reading against the grain it might also...

Re: Help identifying a part

Thanks. I found out that it was a resonator. Not sure I understand what it's for exactly, but I may or may not replace it when spring comes.

Help identifying a part

We had a big blizzard last week in Minnesota. My car got stuck in the snow and a guy who was helping me to free it found this thing in the snow by my passenger's side front. I have no idea if it is...

1) The Lisle 13800 tool for holding the sprocket while the water pump is out cannot be recommended...

Re: What is the metal mesh strip for that comes with the bondo kit?

Short answer - Yes.

Longer Answer, it goes behind a hole to give support to the Bondo. I've also used it in very deep dents.

Re: 0W-30 in higher mileage L200?

When I had my Saab 9000, I always ran Synthetic. This was because the oil had to go out to the turbo-charger to lubricate it as well as the engine, and Dino oil's impurities could tend to lodge...

Re: Want to make sure I understand the A/C Electrics in a 2002 L100

Thanks, fdryer, I think I may have noticed a sign of an old leak; there's a spot on one of the high side hoses where dirt has gathered in a way that suggests that there was oil there for it to cling...

Want to make sure I understand the A/C Electrics in a 2002 L100

My Compressor clutch won't engage and I want to absolve the electrics before I go leak-hunting.

Here is my understanding.

BCM asks PCM to energize relay if it finds A/C switch on.

PCM will...

Well, perhaps not all 31.;) I still wonder though, what a failing VSS might contribute.
