what I did with my 93 SL2 was slightly modify the bulb socket to hold Hi Beam halogen bulbs for the low beam side too .. headlamps are no longer Dim at night

I replaced all 4 in my old 93 SL2 in 2005, I had no problem with the plates, however I had to replace all 4 of the rubber bumpers in the struts.. they were all deteriorated
