Re: charcoal canister

The part you have your hand on in that picture looks like it doesn't belong there. I don't see anything resembling it in any Cobalt or Ion parts diagrams I've looked at. It looks like an EVAP service...

Re: 03 Ion P0032 & P0135

Before you get a new fuse box, unplug the connectors at the ECM and fuse box to inspect them if you haven't done so already.

You can also take apart the fuse box and inspect it. This is much...

Re: Finding a decent Saturn is getting harder . It's seems

I've researched the Pentastar 3.6L and ZF 9HP transmission the Pacifica uses. It's hard to decipher legitimate complaints from actual problems when researching the transmission. Because of it's...

Re: Finding a decent Saturn is getting harder . It's seems

The Sebring JXi convertible is the 1995-2000 style that had the Mitsubishi 6G73 2.5L V6 (https://www.allpar.com/mopar/25V6.html). It didn't ever get the Chrysler 2.7L. Perhaps your female friend had...

Re: 03 Ion P0032 & P0135

Was the oxygen sensor you changed mounted in the exhaust manifold? That is the upstream sensor. I think you already knew this, but couldn't say beyond a reasonable doubt.

The upstream oxygen...

Re: Engine type

GM assigns alphanumeric 3 character codes to options on their vehicles which can be found on the option sticker (located on the left side of the trunk floor in Ions).

L61 is the 2.2L Ecotec

LE5...

Re: New oil, old filter, can I replace the filter if there's oil in the car?

Yes, you can replace the filter after changing the oil. You'll lose very little oil - especially if you let the engine sit for a while beforehand.

If you plan to keep the car any significant...

Re: 2006 Ion Crankshaft Sensor Replacement.

The common suspects for a trunk leak are the sunroof drain tubes and the vent in the bottom right side.

Make sure the sunroof drain tubes aren't plugged and attached to the exit ports on each...

Re: 2004 Saturn ION automatic how to check transmission fluid

Need more info.

We need to know exactly which transmission you have. Look at the option sticker on the floor of the trunk on the left side and tell us which code you have:

M43 = Aisin AF23
M75...

Re: inner rotor wear

Short answer: no.

You should definitely take the caliper off to inspect the pads. If you replace the pads, replace both rotors too.

Re: 2005 Saturn ION misfire and it sputters

The ignition module is a part that commonly fails. Unfortunately, there's no way to confirm it's bad without replacing it.

Re: 2005 Saturn ION misfire and it sputters

It's possible that the fuel filter is partially clogged or the fuel pump is weak, but it is far more likely that the catalytic converter is plugged. There's no way to tell for sure without further...

Re: A/C work check

There's no guessing about it. This confirms your compressor clutch is bad.

FWIW I replaced my compressor a couple years ago. The clutch suddenly stopped engaging on my compressor too. I bought a...

Re: 2005 Saturn ION misfire and it sputters

Is your check engine light on? If so, get your car scanned for codes and post them here.

Without knowing anything else, I suspect that your catalytic converter is plugged. You can temporarily...

Re: Trunk Lid-Torsion Bar Torque Rod

Yes, there are two of them. There are also three lift strength settings/notches on each side where the hook goes. Make note of the position the one still in the car is hooked to. There are different...

Re: Has anyone rebuilt a 2004 2.2 ecotec ?(burning 2 quarts of oil a week)

Two quarts per week??? How far do you drive the car every week? That's a lot of oil.

Before performing a compression test, you could make sure the PCV path is clear. Check the hose going between...

Re: A/C help in the Cincinnati area?

Make sure the radiator fan runs when the AC is turned on. No fan = no cold air.

Re: Just How Fast is a Saturn SL2?

This is false. The transmission has nothing to do with the speed limiter on an S-Series. Only DOHC models that came equipped H speed-rated tires are limited to 124 MPH. All others came with S...

Re: intake question

Yes, the ECM in 2007 Ions is completely different than the other years. Tuning is supported by HP Tuners and Trifecta, but actually finding someone that is able to do it is the real challenge.

Re: intake question

The Red Line's intake plumbing is completely different because of the supercharger. An intake for a 2.0L definitely won't work with the 2.2L.

Re: intake question

There are very few intakes that work with the 2007 2.2L/2.4L Ion. The Cobalt's intake will physically fit, but will cause the check engine light to come on. The intake hose used in the Cobalt is a...
