Re: Have you named your Astra yet?

HA, LOL. But I think you need to find a better name, bro.

Re: Have you named your Astra yet?

I'm holding off on naming my Astra for a year or two. I want to see what will happen to Saturn Corp, and the availability of Astra parts.

If bad things happen, then I'll name my Astra MISTAKE!

Re: How durable is Astra's paint?

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know such a product existed. I'll check it out.

Re: What will my Astra be worth in 2012 ?

I agree. Forget trade-in/selling, just run it till the wheels fall off.

Re: What About Opel?

This is a bit off topic, but what does Opel call their version of the Astra?
Or do they call it Astra also?

How durable is Astra's paint?

With less than 50 miles on it, my twilight blue Astra already has 2 scratches!

Two small scratches, both about 1.25 inches long, next to the door. Not very deep, but enough to see the primer....

New Astra owner says hello!

Hello, fellow Astra owners.

Just bought my Astra XR 3 door last Sunday. My trusty 2000 SL1 was totaled in a recent accident, so I visited my Saturn dealership and was attracted to the Astra's...

Does Saturn still have a 30 day return policy?

If I remember correctly, Saturn would allow buyers to return their car within
30 days of purchase. I checked Saturn's site, but can't find any thing about it. Do they still have this return policy?

Re: SL1 crash, will insurance co repair or salvage?

Update:

Got back from the body shop. They think the insurance co will total the car.
The shop will contact their vendor and see how much the replacement parts will cost, then give an estimate to...

Re: SL1 crash, will insurance co repair or salvage?

That's what I'm wondering. It has its original air bags, but neither deployed.
I'm going to the repair shop in a few hours. I'll ask them about that.

Again, thanks for all the good replies.

Re: SL1 crash, will insurance co repair or salvage?

Thanks for setting me straight on that ;)

And thanks to you and others for the great information.

Tomorrow I take it in for an estimate. I'll keep you updated on what they say, and what I do.

Re: SL1 crash, will insurance co repair or salvage?

The air-bags did not deploy, which surprised me considering the impact.

As far as fixing the car myself, I doubt I'll do that. Given my long work hours, I don't have the time or energy to get...

Re: SL1 crash, will insurance co repair or salvage?

I've been with this ins co for 25 yrs and always gotten excellent service.
So I have no doubt that they will pay. My concern was if the car would be reparied or considered junk. Thanks for your...

SL1 crash, will insurance co repair or salvage?

My 2000 SL1 was in an accident a few days ago. Rear-ended an SUV.
The Saturn has significant damage to the hood, head light assembly, front bumper. Hood is a total loss, and the cross member that...

Re: How long as your Saturn lasted you?

Mine is an 2000 SL1 also. How has your wife's car held up so far?
Any serious maintenance issues?

Re: I don't get it, why so few Skys on the road?

Hmmm...the more I read about the Sky, the more interested I get.
Turning radius aside, it looks like a fun car to drive.

With the poor economy, I wonder if Saturn would sell it lower than fixed...

Re: How long as your Saturn lasted you?

2000 SL1, 140,000 miles. Still runs great, and had only one problem: cooling fan relay failed. No other mechanical problems what so ever. One of the most reliable cars I've owned.

The original...

Re: 2000 SL1, Saturn dealership or independent garage?

I have no interest in doing the work myself. I work long hours on my job, and paying someone else to do the work is well within my buget. I've got better things to do on my limited free time.

2000 SL1, Saturn dealership or independent garage?

My 2000 SL1 has 140,000 miles, and still runs like a champ.
With the exception of oil & filter changes, I've done very little preventive maintenance on the car. (I know, that's not a good thing to...

I don't get it, why so few Skys on the road?

I live in a major city located in So Cal. A few miles away is a Saturn dealership. I travel almost 50 miles/day, street & freeways. BUT, it's very rare that I see a SKY on the road. Perhaps I see one...
