Thumbs Up Re: B pillar rubber door seal

Thank you! My dealer couldn't tell me that. Keep in mind that almost any "discontinued" Saturn Astra part is available from Europe through Vauxhall or Opel because they sold so many millions of...

Re: B pillar rubber door seal

I have yet to find a way to purchase this part. I'm going to have the parts manager actually come look at the car next time I'm in the area of the dealership.

Re: Engine lack of power with DTCs P0011, P0014, P000A, P000B, P0012, P0015 or engine

Be careful when removing the little external torx screws holding in the actuators- they love to go flitting off somewhere impossible to find. Also, you'll probably need a channellock to get a good...

Re: Engine lack of power with DTCs P0011, P0014, P000A, P000B, P0012, P0015 or engine

Yes, codes P000A and P000B are for "Camshaft Position Slow Response" and the TSB is for removing the filters.

I have had this problem occur on both of my Astras - the first time I was unaware of...

B pillar rubber door seal

I'm trying to find the rubber seal that mounts to the B pillar. For some reason, I'm not able to find it on the parts diagrams, and my dealer insists that it doesn't exist. Mine has degraded and...

Re: Glove Box Door

If you're still reading the forum, could you let me know what you had to do to separate the pieces? Did you have to use adhesive to rejoin them, or are there clips, etc.? I had a brief look at mine...

Re: 1.8L interchangeable for auto/manual tranny cars?

Wouldn't that be nice. Of course it never works that way. 105,000 miles.

1.8L interchangeable for auto/manual tranny cars?

Are there any differences in the 1.8L for a manual or automatic transmission vehicle? My engine just gave up the ghost and I need to know if I can get a salvage engine from an auto for my manual.

Re: Engine lack of power with DTCs P0011, P0014, P000A, P000B, P0012, P0015 or engine

The code may be set even though you've never seen the CEL light come on. You'll have to either bring it in (taking a chance on paying diagnostic charges in case there are not any codes set) or...

Re: After 2 years the first AutoX outing

The civic understeers like a Roadmaster. The Astra is a lot better for autocross, except for its awful torque steer... In fact, the Astra's torque steer is its biggest liability for sporty driving-...

Re: Looking into buying an Astra!

Lacks in speed??? The 3-door and 5-door have similar enough weights that there's no difference in speed or acceleration. The 3-door XR with the 18" rims does have even stiffer suspension than the...

Re: Engine lack of power with DTCs P0011, P0014, P000A, P000B, P0012, P0015 or engine

Powertrain. I had my filters removed under warranty with 99,600 miles on the odometer.

Re: Brake life?

I still have all original brake components after 100k miles on my 5-speed. Although the manual transmission certainly makes for less brake use, the components used on the Astra also seem to be quite...

Re: Lots of negativity!

I just had the first problem with mine at 98,000 miles. The left rear turn signal bulb burned out.

Of course it took me three weeks to find a replacement bulb that wasn't made in China...

It...

Re: My new ride...

30mm compared to what? The XR is already 15mm lower than the standard XE (in 5 door), although it looks more like 25mm lower. I don't want to drop another 30mm off of the XR ride height; I'm afraid...

Re: My new ride...

Depends on what you mean by an arm and a leg, but you can get Eibach... Some of their springs are made in the USA and some are imported from Deutschland (depending on the spring rate you get, etc.),...

Re: Busted windshield - who did you use?

Ask what windshield they're going to use. I had to have a windshield replace on a vehicle recently and Safelite came trotting out with some really cheap Chinese windshield. They said they've been...

Re: Brake life?

The cheap Chinese rotors they sell at Autozone are not worth the metal they're made from. They will warp and wear out in a few miles. It is not worth it - you got 115k miles out of your OEM rotors-...

Re: Astra Woes

It ends up being the insurance's financial problem since they have to return it to good working order as it was before... They'll probably wish they'd written it off, too, by the time they have it...

Re: To Astra or not?

Ticked over 90k miles on the 5-door. Love the car. I love taking the twisty way home, and after all those miles and a couple of years, it still puts a smile on my face. Whatever you do, get the...

Re: Question about brakes

I've been really happy with GM's choice (OEM) on the Astra. Good feel and performance for street driving. Definitely do not go with ceramic, as they collect most of the worst possible brake pad...

Re: Problems With Winter Weather

The car is great in the snow, but the stock Hankook "All-season" tires are lousy, and the 18" Pirelli summer tires are, well... summer tires.

Put some decent rubber on it and it'll drive like a...
