How would I properly check the sway bar to control arm bushings?
Do you check them while jacked up by the pinch weld or do you have to take the load off the control arm before checking? Do you just...

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

What do you think that proves?
My dart for example calls for 0w20 do you think if I run 5w30 it'll blow up? Or get harmed?

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

Let me be clear. Most modern transmissions use fiber/ composite materials on the synchros they very often times use a synchromesh or a gl4 rated lube.
ATF was a cheap solution that was adequate at...

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

You yourself said some synchromesh fluids are fine in our transmissions.

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

Everything I have read here and over on Bob's the oil guy states that synchromesh should be fine. I am going to try Valvoline synchromesh because it is thinner than Pennzoil but thicker than atf

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

I wonder what the actual viscosity is. I'd like something a little thicker to cushion the gears especially the differential more than than the atf.

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

I planned on looking up a voa.
Doesn't seem to be many Dex 3 options anymore so it would be nice to find something available that's decent quality.

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

Yea the only synchromesh widely available here is Pennzoil. Wonder if I could try to pull up a data sheet on them both and see how similar they are, if at all.

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

Synchromesh won't hurt the synchronizers or anything? Wasn't sure if it would be compatible or not.

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

A lot of transmissions use non brass synchros, they are a clutch like material.......example right off the top of my head would be the nv4500 trans.

Re: Diff pin questions

I am going to inspect mine to see how it looks but is there a fluid that could be recommended. Might as well do a fluid Change while checking it.
