Hi,

The long and short of it was I got in a heinous bicycle accident as I was hit by a ginormous pickup truck on a charity bicycle rise.

Re: My reliable 2000 Saturn L is giving up the ghost...considering defecting to a Hyu

I've got to concur, or agree with you there, friend.

Leave it to the UAW to shoot itself in the proverbial foot like that, and yet the morons that pay dues to the union think they're all that!

Re: Saturn just stopped in the middle of the road

Let me reiterate what others on this post have advised you, in that you're better off rebuilding the engine to have that died, a known commodity, as opposed to taking a crap shoot, or a gamble, on a...

Re: Saturn just stopped in the middle of the road

While I hate to be the bearer of bad news, it sounds to me as if your timing chain broke, a common problem known to Saturn L's for years now.

This happens primarily because Saturn installed too...

Re: My reliable 2000 Saturn L is giving up the ghost...considering defecting to a Hyu

Thanks much, you guys!

I figured I could venture to a Hyundai Website, but what I'm really interested in is in Saturn owners who have migrated over to the Elantra or a another Hyundai model.

My reliable 2000 Saturn L is giving up the ghost...considering defecting to a Hyundai

Please only post if you've swapped your Satty (either L or S) in for a Hyundai Elantra, please. (In other words, no flamers, please.)

So my 2000 Saturn L, burgundy Ecotech 4, is giving up the...

Re: L series question

I also deliberated on this myself back when I bought a 2000 L series (with a four-banger) back in January of 2000.

So I test drove them both and weighed the options. I went with the four-cylinder...

Re: How to disable/enable trunk lights, which fuse do I pull out???? (PLEASE HELP)

Outside of unscrewing the light bulb from the trunk (DUH! Why didn't I think of that? I always make things more complicated than they need to be!) Can somebody PLEASE tell me which fuse to take...

How to disable/enable trunk lights, which fuse do I pull out???? (PLEASE HELP)

Hi Satty owners,

I've got a 2000 Saturn L and need to haul my road bicycle in the trunk, but don't want to drain my car's battery by the trunk light staying on...

Re: S series guy who has stumbled upon an L series for sale

Here's the lowdown on the Saturn L series vs. the S you have:

The L is WAY larger than the S series. I bought a 2000 Saturn L the year it debuted and its been great. We still have it and the...

They will fit, no problem. So go out, buy them and report back here, ASAP, on how much better the Satty rides for you!

Re: L-Series Reliability... Thoughts?(Prelim Thinking Purchase?)

Don't delay and scoop one up, ASAP!

My 2000 burgundy L has been great, as the odometer is nearly at 260,000 miles and she still runs like the day I bought it new.

Just check to make sure the...

Re: If GM resurrected the SATURN brand tomorrow, would you buy another one?

You should study grammar better, or refrain from using it.

The word you meant to use is : CRUX, as in, "The crux of my problem.

Re: If GM resurrected the SATURN brand tomorrow, would you buy another one?

And considering my Saturn L was about $8,000 less than a Honda Accord or Toyota Camry, think of all the $$$ in interest I've made by keeping that cash in the bank during the passed 15 years!

LOL,...

Re: If GM resurrected the SATURN brand tomorrow, would you buy another one?

That's so true!

I recently read that GM lost $2,000 for every Saturn it sold. Ouch!

Now it only sells junk brands of cars like Chevys that are plague with recalls.

While I've owned nothing...

Cool If GM resurrected the SATURN brand tomorrow, would you buy another one?

I certainly would.

My trusty, reliable 2000 Saturn L (sans the defective and flawed timing chain, and undersized oiler to lubricate it, which broke but didn't destroy my engine as I had just...

Sure will fit.

I speak from experience here. I've been running my 2000 Ecotech L with Toyo Extensa A/S tires of the identical size you listed and no problems whatsoever.

In fact, the thicker or...

Happy Re: 2001 L200 Life Expectancy

We're nearing 240,000 miles miles on our Satty 2000 L series.

Treat her like a baby (Mobil 1 synthetic oil, 10W 40) and Chevron Techron fuel additive.

Do this and the routine maintenance and...

Re: L-Series Reliability

Sorry, my bad. The post should have read 34 m.p.g Maybe my fingers had a case of wishful thinking.

Still, given the size of this ginormous car, that's pretty darn good.

Should I swap my Saturn L for a Chevy Cruze instead? CONVINCE ME OR DISCOURAGE ME !

So my son is getting to be the age where he'll be driving in the not-too-distance future.

I've grown fond of the Chevy Cruze, which has the same EcoTec engine as my trusty and reliable 2000 Saturn...

Re: BTW, thank you all...

You won't regret that decision.....we've rolled just shy of 240,000 miles on our 2000 Saturn L series.

Just remember to use Mobil 1 synthetic oil (10W 30 weight) and use Techron in your fuel tank...

Do your regreat buying a Saturn or are you happy about your choice???

That's a loaded question.

But lets take out of the equation that Saturn has gone defunct and that General Motors gave up on the brand and fed Saturn to the financial wolves when the auto industry...

Re: L-Series Reliability

I run strictly Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Have done so since all the engine's parts were properly seated at 12,00 miles.

Synthetic oil not only extend the life of your engine significantly because...

Then good thing my Satty dealer is defunct, or out of business.

That's where the mechanic worked that told me that.

Re: L curious

I wholeheartedly recommend the "sleeper" hit that Saturn marketing executives failed to market properly: buy a Toyota Camry and get its reliability for a fraction of the cost.

What a blunder...
