Re: Would you buy your Vue a second time?

If you can swing either of the V6's (XE, XR, RL), do it; I love my 2.4L I-4, but have needed the extra power when towing occasionally.

If you don't tow anything, the 2.4L is fine.

Good luck!

Re: FWD vs. AWD

My '08 XE FWD does wonderfully in the snow; not perfect of course, but with the right set of tires, I can get around just about anywhere (including mountain pass crossings) near where I live.

The...

Re: Finding Parts

No problems finding parts so far. Remember that the new, fleet-only Chevrolet Captiva is almost a re-badge of the Vue, and is going back into production this fall.

There shouldn't be any issues...

Re: 08 VUE replacement tires

I bought Goodyear Fortera TripleTred's for my '08 XE. Love them. Relatively quiet, great performance in all seasons.

Re: Oil filter removal questions 2008 4 Cyl Vue

It's a cartridge filter, so theoretically, yes it can be changed without an oil change. However, if you're changing per the OLM (oil life monitor), the oil should be changed with filter (sorry;...

Re: ScanGauge and Onstar

T-Bone: Mapquest used to allow you to upload your routes directly to OnStar. Might be worth checking into.

Also, for the OP; try to unplug the ScanGauge a few days to either side of the OnStar...

Re: Windshield Washer

There's a fuse for the washer in the fuse panel on the passenger side foot compartment.

That's what had happened when mine stopped working. If it's been really cold lately and the fluid froze,...

Re: Stiff steering - 2008

Could you describe the symptoms a little more? There could be a number of issues at play here. I can't remember if the 3.5L Vue has the same electric power steering that the 2.4L has.

Re: Trouble Code P013B

Absolutely correct; I've spent too much time on the west coast and in MI (where you can get 94 pump gas) to remember 85 in much of the middle US. My apologies.

Re: Trouble Code P013B

Captiva and Vue are similar, though not quite the same (IIRC, different engine options, which would mean different wiring, etc.)

Trouble code seems to be related to the fuel you're putting in. I...

Re: Tire & Dashboard Questions

I just bought Goodyear Fortera TripleTreds for my 08 Vue. So far, so good, relatively quiet, but very good in imperfect weather.

Other reply is correct about the clips and screw. Once the...

Re: One problem after the other : TCS/ESP lights both on

I had it happen to me over the winter; was one of the ABS sensors getting out of phase (there are what look like sprockets that the ABS system uses on the axles/hubs). If the system doesn't see the...

Re: Malfunction Indicator Lamp, Autozone code

I have the button on my 2008. Looks like someone's doing S-shaped burnouts, button is next to the rear window wiper button.

If you hold that button down for 7-10 seconds, it'll deactivate both...

Re: 32MPH in 5th gear?

I think the systems do react to your driving habits. Unplug the ECM fuse overnight; the system should reset and "re-learn" your driving habits.

Hope this helps!

Re: Wiper motor replacement.

Go for it. Think of it this way; you've got up to $225 worth of messing around before it's cost you more money than doing it at the dealership.

Re: traction control, and ABS lights came on?

Same thing happened to me during our recent cold snap in the Pacific NW. Went away within an hour or two of driving; I'll be checking ABS wires on next tire rotation.

Of course, I almost put it...

Re: Lumbar Support Repair - Knob-Style

Hi - do you have the FP# for the plastic seat back component (the one with the mesh pocket)? That's one of the parts I'd like to replace.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Lumbar Support Repair - Knob-Style

Another update - the metal keeper assembly at the end of the cable has worn through the plastic, which causes the support to loosen and the cable to slide through.

A small metal washer, with a...

Lumbar Support Repair - Knob-Style

My 08 XE is about 1000mi out of warranty, when I heard a "pop" and felt my lumbar support collapse.

I decided to attempt to fix it myself; the following is a quick and easy way to potentially fix...

Re: OEM Wheels possibly for sale

There is a market - normally, folks on boards like this one are always looking for a set of OEM wheels to mount snow tires on.

I'd try here first, then go toward Ebay or CL if needed.

Re: vue 09 4cyl 4speed, problems on hills

Drive the other 09 being offered. If it does the same thing, say no. If it doesn't, I'd take the deal.

Good luck!

Re: Onstar box location-help!

Liz - did you receive your Costar unit? How do you like it? I'm considering, but wanted some opinions.

Thanks in advance!
