I'd now suspect the replacement TPS. Classic, high idle, shut off ignition, restart and normal idle returns.....where did the replacement TPS come from?
New at autoparts store/Rockauto, or used??

Just remembered when we had another saturn, it was an LW200, but had very similar issues as your car. I finally replaced both the IAC and the TPS (cheapo ones off of Ebay) and that would solve it...

No external photo of the ECTS (yours included) can tell you anything about the TIP extending into the engine.
ON A COLD ENGINE, pinch and remove the covering cap, then use no larger than a 1/4"...

What type coolant are you using, and what mix ratio? Should be 60% coolant and 40% distilled water for best coverage.
Was the replacement cap new, or used, and threaded on tight?

Since direct access to radiator is unavailable and we only can use the stuff by pouring directly into the reservoir tank. Or, remove top hose where it connects to the top of the radiator and install...

How many miles on your SW2? Is is 5-speed or automatic?
Sounds like you replaced the battery because the engine was not starting, so what were the symptoms before you replaced...
