Re: Oil change - Added too much...drain some?

Before my Saturn was an oil burner, I'd be paranoid about overfilling it. After, it was self-correcting.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

The whole timing cover was ripped asunder. Maybe ran out of oil and hand grenaded? Shame, seemed clean otherwise.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

My local LKQ got in a 1995 SL2. Yay! Off to get the aluminum valve cover for the '98 SC2.

Re: Vacuum Leak?

That would be me! Haven't done it in a long time though. The 80's cars had a lot of vacuum junk and leaks could be an issue.

Re: Whats your MPG?

I just got 31.5 MPG on the $500 SC2. Not bad! This even included two parking lot driving lessons with my younger son.

Re: Opinions on white smoke

A dye penetrant check would be the ticket here! Or if you are an awesome NDI tech with awesome equipment then eddy current is the way to go.

Re: 02 sc2 leather seats

Seats at LKQ are $31, so no lower than that. Maybe $60? I'd put them on eBay for $5 plus shipping and let the frenzy tell you how much they are worth.

Re: Fuel Pump Failure Rate/Average Lifespan?

My '99 has 211K. My '98 has 164K. I've owned the '99 since new and it has the original pump. Not so sure of the history of the '98 but it seems to have had minimal maintenance. Most of it was bad.

Re: Gas Mileage has Suddenly Improved

Or, a Super Cub with a flat 4 engine, 320 cubic inches, and an oil cooler. Even the olde J3 with 171 cubic inches had a sump design that stood off from the engine and provided a lot of surface area.

Re: Bonehead Saturn Craigslist find of the day

I particularly like the manual shift lever grafted on to the automatic transmission. It does say automatic in the ad!

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Sometimes the cheapest deal is not the cheapest. In this case though, I think it is overpriced by at least $1K. That subframe looks worse than the description, and it has a snapped spring! You are...
