So long to my best car EVARRRR!

I recently traded my 2006 2.2l manual for a new Chevy Cruze. I had a ridiculously reliable and cheap car in the Vue. I can only hope for the same luck with the Cruze.

The Vue only let me down...

Re: Dying for Horsepower!

I am an old fuddy-duddy... But... A person posting in the Saturn Vue>Vue Mods section with a post of dying for horsepower wants more... Advice from most of us seasoned, grocery getter,...

Re: Would you buy a used Vue today?

I'm more concerned about Vue specific items such as suspension components. One can't get reliable control arms etc from a junkyard. Maybe they are common on the Equinox, but I'm not smart enough to...

Re: shifting issue, where to start?

[QUOTE=billysvue;2038401]It will shift better... not alot, but better.

All you state is true- it has it's quirks. But it's shortcomings can be overcome with proper , patient shifting...

Re: Would you buy a used Vue today?

I like Tom's post. I love my Vue still today. But, I wouldn't get one for nostalgia's sake. Mine's been a great car, but I knew I was getting into cheap when I bought it. I love my car, its been...

Re: Boiling Sound

Thanks for the comments and helpful info. If its under $100, its better than me freezing my ***** off and worrying about air in the lines afterward. And if there's a chance for a mess, you can...

Re: Boiling Sound

Just for the record, this turned out to be brake fluid. I can shut the car off and let my foot off the brake and it starts boiling. If I put my foot back on the brakes, it stops boiling.

Never...

Alternator replacement

I just replaced my alternator on the 2.2l manual at 244,000 miles. Not too bad considering. It was by far the easiest alternator replacement I've ever had the displeasure of replacing. One screw...

Re: Tire replacement opinions wanted

I've had two sets of Bridgestones, a set of Kuhmos and a set of Goodyears. I'm not sure why Goodyears aren't on your list, I've had super mileage with them. They are not an exact match size-wise,...

Re: How long has your fuel pump lasted

Mine is a 2006 2.2l manual with 244,000 miles, mostly highway. I've never touched the fuel system; if you don't count the O2 sensor... I'd leave well enough alone if its running fine.

The manual...

Re: Is My Vue Abnormally Slow??

I've been getting 360 on winter gas every time for a long time on mostly highway. Closer to 400 in the summer for a long time. Mine's around the same RPMs as yours at highway speeds. I use the AC...

Re: Is My Vue Abnormally Slow??

I agree. 3rd will do 70 pretty handily and then some. I've owned mine long enough and with enough miles to be able to beat it up some when needed and it pretty regularly hits 70 in third when...

Re: Is My Vue Abnormally Slow??

Unfortunately, this post is not accurate. The worst was the VTi... You've got a reliable motor and transmission that you don't need to change trans fluid and filters or timing belts nearly as much...

Re: replace the liftgate gas springs

If the bands snap when pulling them away from the body of the "shock", then its easier... they no longer are clinging to the ball joint at that point and should allow you to pull the liftgate...

Re: Vue reliable

A 2006 i4 with only 110,000 is still a reliable car as long as you know its been maintained for the life of the car. I'd agree on the battery; change it now since you've gotten more than expected...

Re: replace the liftgate gas springs

I used a small thin screw driver to pull my rusty, Northeast beaten down, salted, rusted, unmaintained, liftgate spring clips from the liftgate "shock."

Look at the top part of the liftgate...

Re: Regretting Buying My Vue

Nobody has mentioned this, but maybe the old lady took it for grocery trips here and there and the damned thing needs a good fuel system overhaul? My wife's grandmother had an older Sentra that was...

Re: Thinking about buying a Vue

I own a 2006 5 speed manual, so I'm partial... But if you do 75-80 in it, don't expect great mileage. I do just that on the highway and get about 25 mpg in the summer and 23 in winter. City is...

Re: replace the liftgate gas springs

I hope we are talking about the same thing... I was speaking of replacing the lift gate "shocks." They come off very easily by pulling the spring clip away from the body of the shock. Once the...

XRL,
I have never changed the brake fluid... I guess its about time. I'll give Grumpy's fill procedure a shot and see what that does then move on to brake fluid. Thanks for your post; this never...

Re: Boiling Sound

I have removed the expansion tank cap when the engine is cool to see if some coolant would drain into the block but never does. I have been running without A/C on for a long time and still notice...

Re: replace the liftgate gas springs

Nah, mine were rusty looking too but the picture below shows some indents that you can use to pry the spring clips off. Mine came right off. It took longer to figure out what screw driver to use to...

Re: Boiling Sound

Its been a while, but I am still having a boiling sound... Made it through the trip and in stop and go beach traffic in middle of summer. But, it still is boiling/gurgling etc when I shut it off. ...
