Re: 2000 saturn sl2 dohc - swapping engines

Pretty sure '96-'02 are swappable, '00-'02 definatly are so if you're having problems it's probably because you mixed up MP6 and MP7 transmissions.

First thing to do is verify you have a DOHC...

Re: SC1 Manual Shift Linkage

I think the cheapest option is to find a JY shift tower with low miles and swap it out.
It's straightforward, remove the bolts pull it off, put gasket maker around the seam and put it back together...

Re: 91 to 98 dohc swap

The '98 ECU is expecting a whole host of change's that happened in '96 and '98. Means the pin-outs will be different even if you make it fit the '91 ECU connector.

Best idea is to find a '93-'94...

Re: Fng

Attempt to find a '95-'96 2dr in a junkyard and take the better seat belts from it. I upgraded a '93 SL2 to the good belts for $50.

PO must have taken seats from a '99+ as the seat mounted buckle...

Re: Need Part

Sounds like it could have been the guy the PO of my Outback talked to for getting a used rear subframe...they sent the front one twice before he sold the car to me. Lucky for me a eBay JY from a...

Re: Who says 6x9s don't fit in the S-Series?

Find a Subaru in a JY, grab the factory underseat woofer (held in with a seat mount bolt). Big ones are 100w, smaller ones are 50-60w. If you really want to dig into it take the center console out as...

Re: Need Part

It's for a '97, at best the last time it was made was 2007. You'll need one of those sites OldNuc is often posting to find who has OEM parts in stock.
Nally says its out of stock :(...

Re: Been fixing my Mom's AC on her Saturn for 2 years, now the gauge is in red.

Time to buy a black light, find what's leaking and replace it. Need something that'll pull a decent vacuum on the lines for 30min once your finished putting everything back together.

Only getting...

Re: Keys

I walked into a Chevy dealer with my registration card, they got the code from the VIN and charged me just under $9 and took maybe 15 minutes.

My dad's Oldsmobile on the other hand was...

Re: cracked/broken hose above starter.

P0401 = Normally blocked EGR passage's but as it appeared after you replaced the valve I'd blame the new valve.
P0405 = Wireing issue, generally not a bad valve. Helps to have a scanner with live...

Re: Please help guys!!!

Pretty sure F5 is a 2nd gen pin, not a 3rd gen...so no it isn't F5. Think it's like B52 or something...lol

It's some kind of electrical problem, easiest thing to try is spending 10-20 minutes...

Re: H&R sport springs on KYB GR2 struts

They'll probably complain about having to work harder at it and either charge $20/corner for camber bolts (they're $20/pair shipped from most places) or an extra half-hour to hour labor but they can...

Re: H&R sport springs on KYB GR2 struts

Should only have a slight clunk over bumps from the rear without a spacer. Make sure the springs are rotated around so they're properly in the perch's, they're just loose enough that it could rotate...

Re: You Guys Wont Believe What I Did.... (STUPID!!)

If it somehow got into the bell housing, just take the brace off (6ish 13mm head bolts) then remove the inspection cover (3x 7mm head bolts). Have to jack up the car and set it on stands so you can...

Re: You Guys Wont Believe What I Did....

If they're like 99% of aftermarket struts you gain the camber adjustment by drilling out the "extra" in the bottom hole to make it a slot. Can probably do it anyway, it'll just be harder if you have...

Re: Transmission swap

Bolt-in? Yes, no problem.
Work like stock afterward? Depends. Manual's lose cruise control when swapping DOHC/SOHC (MP3/MP2) transmissions. Automatics can't be done DOHC/SOHC.

Re: Electric Conversion Saturn On Ebay

It started out as a '97 SC2, the 130mph speedometer is the giveaway...everything else that "should" be the giveaway is swappable in under 20mins.

Sounds weaker than a SOHC if he ran out of road to...
