Re: Any idea to improve the front suspension?

KYB GR2 struts are excellent. I paired them with Moog springs and top mount hardware, and everything was good until the Moog strut mounts failed after 40k miles (damper rod pulled through rubber...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Check out the picture of the AC Delco top mount assembly from Rock auto...the washer is included in their assembly. In my opinion it makes sense that a part like this, which is critical for proper...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

I reused the old boots, so they must have included the lower washers. I had no idea the mount assembly wasn't complete out of the box. Is it user error on my part then? Do the washers always need...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

I just found this thread, where people seem to be having the same problem.

http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=211063&highlight=strut+mount

If you read the entire discussion, it...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Exactly what I thought. The Moog mount assembly does not come with a formed washer to distribute the damper force into the rubber mount. Instead, the force is applied over a small area (just the...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

So it's official...the passenger side just let go. It failed in the same way (at the top mount, with the damper rod shearing through the mount rubber). I have to say I'm disappointed in how this...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Hello all! It's been four years since I've been on here, so I figured I might as well post an update (thanks for everyone who continued adding information).

So, I've put about 50K miles on this...

Re: Who bought an AMR front strut brace in the Group Buy of 2012?

So I haven't been on here for a few years, and I'm surprised to see this thread. I purchased a custom front strut tower bar (powder coated red) and a black rear strut tower bar from Andy back in...

Re: Cloyes Timing Set

I have the Cloyes set and it works fine, and it looks the same as the OEM set that came out of the car. I put the Cloyes set in about 30K miles ago and haven't had any problems.

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

The rear is softer than it used to be for small bumps / low speed compression. You can tell that just by sitting in the back and paying attention to how much the car squats. Also, the ride height...

Re: AMR Engineering 19mm & 22mm Adjustable Swaybars

I can personally attest to how awesome this stuff is guys. I have AMRs front and rear strut tower braces and the rear 19mm sway bar with MOOG endlinks (also running KYB-GR2 struts with MOOG cargo...

Re: SL-1 Revs up on start

Hey, welcome to the forums. I'm glad the ECTS fixed the problem. This is a classic example of this issue. Everyone with one of these cars MUST replace the factory ECTS for a brass one if you don't...

Re: Cats and o2..please help

The Denso direct-fit O2 sensor will also be fine, it is a quality sensor. If you are simply trying to troubleshoot the engine code, just replace the rear sensor and see if the code goes away. If it...

Re: Cats and o2..please help

Hey, it sounds like you might have a clogged CAT or a bad O2 sensor. Code p0137 is for Bank 1, Sensor 2, which means it is the sensor behind the converter (the big one under the car). This sensor...

Re: Having problems getting my saturn to start.

When you key the car on (prior to trying to start it), do you hear the fuel pump kick on? It usually runs for 3 seconds or so to build up pressure in the fuel system, and after it stops, the fuel...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

The front KYBs have more rebound damping than the stock struts did, although I got the car with 114 thousand miles on it so I've never experienced what fresh factory struts feel like. The front...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Here is a view of a completed front strut and a completed rear strut side by side. I should mention that the black strut came labled as an Excel-G. After some digging, I found that it is the same...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Here is a top down view of two side-by-side front strut assemblies. It should be pretty obvious as to which one of these bad boys has 155k miles on it. Notice that the coils on the new MOOG spring...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Here is a comparison of the OEM front spring (left) and the new MOOG cargo coil (right). The new spring came with a protective coating that was flaking off in a few places, so I'm kind of skeptical...

Re: Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Old front strut after it was removed. I used the AutoZone spring compressors, which worked fine. They come as a pair for $35, and included saftey latches to secure the coils against the compressor...

Strut Replacement with MOOG Cargo Coils

Hi all, I just finished my latest project, which was to replace the struts and springs on all four corners of my SL2. I got all of my parts from Rock Auto. Below is the parts summary. Prices are...
