Re: Factory remote start in SL2's?

In perspective, the S-series cars never had factory remote start. This applies to the L-series, Ions and Vues too. Auras and Outlooks were the only Saturn models with factory remote start.

Re: Another p0401 thread

There's one other possibility of erratic readings; most readers are taking screenshots (snapshots) and displaying values the moment a screen is displayed. Live displays where values like coolant,...

Re: 3.0L V6 timing belt replacement

My fault was not seeing camshaft #1 off one tooth. My only excuse? Poor eyesight and the hoses in the way to seeing a straight ahead view of the cam notch aligned to the rear cam shaft cover notch....

Re: Another p0401 thread

The discrepancy in readouts may be indicating either a wiring or flaky sensor. Ruling out a dry rotted vacuum hose, the erratic sensor output may be the issue affecting overall EFI functions since...

Re: 2003 Saturn Vue 3.0 V6 81L

Yes, four camshafts used in GMs 3.0L V6 engine. Each cylinder bank of three cylinders in a V6 configuration has its own intake and exhaust camshafts. I'm not certain if this applies to Honda 3.5L V6...

Re: Camshaft position sensor

Try searching in AutoZone. Log in free then add your vehicle to find repair info. Search under engine performance and emissions control for drawings. Your camshaft sensor is shown above the cam cover...

Re: can't rid myself of P0401

With two error codes and replacing the egr valve to correct P0404, the two errors may remain until several engine/drive cycles ensure one or both aren't active errors before the self diagnosing OBD...

Re: can't rid myself of P0401

Yes, with egr valve removed, the intake port is a direct feed to the intake manifold and should allow the engine to rev up immediately upon startup to programmed rev limit (4k).

Re: Camshaft position sensor

Presuming Vue 3.5L V6 Honda engines are the same for Vues using this engine, this video for '09 should help; https://youtu.be/QlTISTb1KBM. Camshaft position sensor location is under and behind the...

3.0L V6 used water pump and three idler pulleys

If anyone's interested in rebuilding the water pump and idler pulleys with new bearings, contact me via private messaging. I replaced them when performing a timing belt replacement recently. None the...

Re: Aura won't crank

I guessed and your wiring schematic of the ecm start sequence verifies it as a software engine startup as opposed to conventional startup directly from the ignition switch sending 12v directly to the...

3.0L V6 timing belt replacement

As the title implies, I too had my turn at bat attempting timing belt replacement (108k miles) two weeks ago. Water pump and three idler pulleys replaced too. Rather than repeat what's already well...

Re: '04 Vue No Start

Personally, if several starting attempts didn't get the engine to startup, there's a real possibility of a flooded engine. As we're all 'spoiled' from the EFI system instant startup in summer or...

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

Perhaps reviewing a Saturn training video can help; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBue8XTbcog. A Saturn parts and service manual for your xmission would be invaluable.

Re: Aura won't crank

My bad as I'm trying to keep up with changes in security. PassKey III is similar to Passlock in that both use proprietary software to disable one or more EFI functions to prevent common thieves from...

rochvids, in addition to a full press assistance from imadicted2u, there's a compelling issue that doesn't make sense. When you state "Again, when I try to start it, everything goes dark in the dash...

Re: 99 Saturn SL2 engine hesitation, now won’t start

The white smoke, if it isn't a blown head gasket, would normally be first startup and humidity creating steam until the engine warms up. The steam is from overnight condensation settling in the...

Re: 99 Saturn SL2 engine hesitation, now won’t start

Normally, the couldn't sensor sends temperature signals the pcm needs to determine correct air/fuel ratios. When the original sensors failed (virtually all of them), cold engine starting results in...

Re: My experience with Motor Oils and my Saturn

If you're ok with sluggish starting this winter with 15w40, keep using it. Just be aware of slower starter turnover with thicker oil in freezing weather. 0w20 is perfect for winter use.

Re: Refrigerant Temp Sensor - replacement part??

Re: Manual trans and synchronizer questions

I think your concern to use a higher viscosity xmission oil may be overly concerned. Presuming brass synchronizers are used, the main concern from GMs view is reasonably long term life with either...

Re: Lw300 NIGHTMARE PLEASE HELP (OVERHEATING)

I've never read or heard of manual xmission synchronizers made of fiber. Conventional manuals are all metal. Brass synchronizers. Exotic carbon fiber? Maybe new for specific vehicles. My guess is...

Re: 99 Saturn SL2 engine hesitation, now won’t start

^ Caution warning. That setup with hand holding a spark plug to the engine block to test for spark can result in a....... shocking result. Up to 40k volts is the specs given with electronic ignition...
