From what I could tell the 96 had the ssme style as my 94. Been hard to find any pre-99 dohc in my area and from I know those are when the heads switch things to a roller.

I was at a pick-a-parts this morning looking for odd bits to my sw2 and I walked by a 96 auto sc2, noticed the valve cover hadn't been touched or much of anything in the engine bay. Didnt plan on it...

Basically you looking at swapping in a dohc/megasquirt and put together a turbo set up for 250hp at the crank if I understand your goal. All if doable if you have the skills or will pay someone else...

Mpg is mostly up to where/how you drive. I'd guess mid 30s highway, which is what your at by rough math. Some say single cams with a 5s can hit 40ish mpg from what I've read online.....so bonjour...

Turned out to be a combination of a bad battery and my speed sensor was covered in some nasties. Replaced the sensor and on cleaning off the connector I found the wires was burned and totally exposed...
