Re: Are there any known issues relating to the exhaust manifold?

No, this problem is pretty rare in the Ion. The Vue with the same engine does have this problem, but the exhaust manifold they have is different than the one used in the Ion.

Re: What PAG Oil do Ion's compresser use?

If you already have the oil, then I might do it. Otherwise, it's probably not necessary.

The A/C system requires 5 ounces of PAG 46.

Re: What PAG Oil do Ion's compresser use?

The system only needs 5 ounces of PAG 46 according to the service manual. How much you need to add depends on how much was lost when the compressor was removed. If none was lost then you shouldn't...

Re: 05 Ion 1, manual trans issues

No, oil pressure will not affect transmission operation. There are no electronic devices that would affect transmission operation.

I suspect bad clutch hydraulics or low transmission fluid level....

Re: Several question in this thread. Who knows the answers?

1) Use Toyota T-IV fluid and nothing else

2) The car came with Dexcool, but any universal long-life coolant will work fine.

3) This is likely a BTSI issue as previously suggested.

4) I...

Re: Third brake light bulb

As I posted earlier, you can buy all six PC175 bulbs from Rockauto for $12 shipped. You'd be crazy to pay $5/bulb for them elsewhere.

Re: Third brake light bulb

PC175 bulbs are correct, but PC168 bulbs will also work. You have a couple different options.

You can buy six PC175 bulbs from RockAuto for about $12 (including tax, shipping and 5% discount).

Re: Front Motor Mount fun.

The original, longer mount is no longer available. The parts catalog doesn't show the part numbers for the old mount and bracket. That is why I requested that you post the part numbers for both the...

Re: Front Motor Mount fun.

You may need to install a new bracket (p/n 15854396) to make the new mount fit. If you can't find the correct mount for the long bracket.

Re: Front Motor Mount fun.

There should be a part number stamped on the original/OEM mount. Please post it on here when you find it. If possible, find the part number stamped on the bracket and post that here too.

The parts...

Re: Will a 2005 Ion engine fit in a 2004 Ion?

Correct, but like I said before, a 2005-2006 engine can be installed if you reuse the 2004 Intake manifold, throttlebody, fuel rail, and injectors.

Re: Will a 2005 Ion engine fit in a 2004 Ion?

No, the engines are the same. The transmissions all mount to the engines the same way. That's why it's so easy to do transmission swaps on CVT models.

Re: Saturn Ion 03... No Crank no start, maybe computer?

I took too long editing my previous post, but wanted to include the paragraph below.

The main positive cables are all connected together at the starter. A weak connection there would explain why...

Re: Saturn Ion 03... No Crank no start, maybe computer?

I doubt you'll need a new computer. I think you have a weak connection somewhere that needs to be addressed. Ignore any error messages as they are likely false warnings caused by said weak...

Re: Will a 2005 Ion engine fit in a 2004 Ion?

That build date of 10/2005 would make it a 2006, but 2005 & 2006 engines are identical so it doesn't change your situation. The long block should be a direct swap. You will just need to reuse the...

Re: 2007 Ion Alarm/horn starts blowing by itself

No, it doesn't really help narrow things down. Again, just be sure to check all the main connections I previously mentioned because they are all common failure points on these cars.

Re: FE1 Control arm differences?

If you read and understood my previous post, you should already know the answer to this question (YES).

Re: 2007 Ion Alarm/horn starts blowing by itself

Unfortunately, the battery light (along with the rest of the gauge cluster) is controlled by the BCM. It will operate as intended if the alternator is bad but the battery still has a enough charge to...

Re: 2007 Ion Alarm/horn starts blowing by itself

Yes.

However, I'd check a few things before assuming the BCM itself is to blame. The BCM really doesn't fail very often in these cars. Usually, a simple wiring fault or low battery voltage is to...

Re: O2 sensor questions....

The answer is yes to both questions.

I recommend Denso oxygen sensors. Do NOT use Bosch sensors. They are junk.

Re: Ion speakers vs. Alpine...OEM with more bass?

The factory speakers are not branded, unless you consider AC Delco a brand. Unless that Ion has the AAS/premium system, it will have four 2-way coaxial speakers in it. If you care about sound quality...

Re: Shocks / Struts for 2007 Saturn 3 2.4

Yes, they will all fit, but dampening stiffness may be a bit different. I recommend KYB suspension parts.
