New IAC could be defective or bad wiring to it, easy to rule out too.
We're all about ideas, that's why we're here...lol.
Be interesting to know the idle speed when in park and in gear.

Pulling fuses might be a good check assuming there is an electrical fault but not if there is a valve body problem as his mechanic friend diagnosed as the cause. His friend could be wrong too, who...

I know you said you replaced the IAC but maybe try this quick test to ensure it's actually working. It too will cause stalling if not working correctly....

True but the OP did say that his retired mechanic friend said it was caused by a valve body in the transmission issue.

The valve body is where the TCC solenoid is. Could be in there or the wiring to it.

Old and new key fob case

I just switched the key fob case for my Aura to a switch blade case.
Local auto store cut the key portion for free. I cut the original key open to remove the transponder chip. Inside the switch...

Some thoughts on a couple of possible causes:
Open or shorted wiring.
New sensor possibly has bad heater.
Bad ECM.

Best practice would be to disconnect the battery. Inspect the connector and pins for corrosion. The service bulletin says to put dielectric grease on the connector to prevent corrosion.

If the fuses are good it would seem that you are down to the BCM itself, BCM connections or the radio has failed.
