Re: 2001 Saturn - I wish I hadn't sold it. (NH/MA area)

Thief Of Joy,
Sorry for your trade-in loss.

It's really not possible for a factory battery to last 18 years, especially since the car sat unused for years.

Observant, yes, critical, no; just...

Re: AC Compressor - Model number comparisons

"Both need a general overhaul of their A/C systems.

I will need to replace at least one compressor, maybe both."

Why are you so sure, if indeed you don't actually work on refrigeration systems...

Re: Well darn, my '99 SL2 laps oil like a BMW

Well, here's my neck out for the chopping block again...
Since 0w-16 oil IS now available for car use, so how come there is always so much flack generated when I mention that since the 1970's, every...

Re: 2001 Saturn - I wish I hadn't sold it. (NH/MA area)

You, "replaced the original battery"?
So, if the car is 18 years old, how can that be proven??

Maybe (unlikely), the original battery lasted until 2010 and that 1st owner purchased a new one from...

Re: Paint on valve cover

As Mattwithcats showed,

Dupli Color Engine Paint
https://duplicolor.com/product/engin...l-with-ceramic

It's a high temp (500 degree F) paint, not Rust oleum stuff :D

Re: Paint on valve cover

High-Temp is the only stuff that won't burn off fast.

Re: Looking for a 1st gen cupholder

Unless another member has a spare and is willing to part with, only a salvage yard part car would be the source these days.

Re: Automatic Trans Noise

Simple transmission fluid and filter change only costs under $25 if you DIY.
It should be done every 30K miles.
Dark fluid, you could even do a drain out, and refill and only cost $13 with walmart...

Re: 2001 sc2 trunk leak fix

A good brand of pure silicone and let it sit overnight after it skins over.
You can find them in virtually any hardware store.

OR if you have the money, get a tube of sealant that is used to set...

Re: SC2 2002 fog lamps not working

I believe all cars disable the fog circuit whenever the HIGH beam is selected.
Its counter productive, high beam usually hits the fog, and reflects that light back to your eyes; whereas the fog...

Re: 95 randomly dies

Sounds like a bad ICM, ignition control module. Dies out (usually when the sensor gets too warm) and when it cools down a bit, will start again.
Frustrating, to be stranded and then just when tow...

Re: Oil drain plug gasket

Interesting, how come, in over 50 years of car maintenance, and a whole lot of 3k oil changes, so how come I have never had any oil pan gasket disintegrate and I haven't ever replaced those gaskets?...

Re: 2002 SL 1 Cylinders 1 & 4 no spark

Welcome to the forum!
You said, "Only on cyl's 2 & 3 and have installed new plugs gapped at .040".

Does this mean you only replaced those 2 plugs, and not the 1 & 4?
Have you checked to be sure...

Re: 1993 sl 2 Code Alarm security system

Since you say the main control box is missing, then you are out of luck.

Take a guess on which one you have (1000, 1000sx, 3000, Elite series and DM 1500) and try getting one of those 5 types to...

Re: 1993 sl 2 Code Alarm security system

It's an aftermarket alarm system, not a Saturn installation.
