Re: Recommended Alternator for 97 SL2

14.5V output seems like its still working to me, but maybe its time to replace. I'd look further into the squealing noise you mentioned, could be time for a new belt, tensioner, etc.

Re: Just pulled over, coolant drained out somewhere on drivers side

If you saved the old hose, cut a 1 inch section out of it, cut a slit in it, and wrap it around the new hose where the old hose was rubbing against the bracket. That way your new hose will be...

Re: Trans filter seal keeps blowing out!!!!!!

Is the magnet still on? If so, remove it. Aftermarket filters don't work well if the magnet is still on the car.

Re: AutoZone vs. NAPA Water Pump

OT: Autozone is not owned by Sears. Never has been. Sears used to own NTB but sold it years ago.

CPS Broke off in Engine (Pic)

I was at a pick-n-pull practicing removing starters, alternators, etc. While trying to remove a CPS, I broke off the top part, leaving most of it in the engine. See pic below.

I was able to...

Re: "It probably doesn't have the compression it use to have"

Since your on a mission to solve this, I'd replace your rear 02 sensor next. Next trip to the junk yard, look for a shiny one that looks like it was recently replaced and just take it.

You have...

Re: changing radiator-coolant replacement

If it were me, I'd change the lower hose too, especially if its original and your going to be in there anyways replacing the radiator. You just replaced the upper too. That said, I don't see lots of...

Re: i think an old rival has returned

Mgg4591,

I'm just wondering. You've had several issues with your saturn. When you look at the title to the car(assuming its paid for and you have the title), does it show a Salvage or Rebuilt...

Install the NGK plugs, then clear the code, and see if it comes back. Narrow it down from there.

Re: Oil Additives for SL2

If your consumption is that bad, nothing in a bottle is going to fix it. Some have had limited success with MMO or Seafoam but I'd just buy the cheapest dino oil you can find. Buying Slick50 or other...

+1 on Push Pins and ECTS connector off air intake. TAM bolts, cover bolts, coil pack bolts, Thermostat housing and bolts. Trans cooler lines, especially lower if you can find a good one including...

Re: idler pully stud

Yes. Some have tried to repair it using jb weld or some type of adhesive. Others have bought a new cover from the junkyard. You might find some archived threads about it. Good luck.

Re: 15 mpg :( 93 sw1 help!!!!!!

If you just got the car, invest in some new NGK plugs, wire set, check the ECTS, clean the throttle body, new or clean pcv, etc. Use the search function and watch the richpin vids on youtube. It...

Re: Just had a little car fire nothing to worry about.

Wow, glad nobody was hurt. Glad the saturn is still safe too!

Could have been alot worse if that was in your garage/shop.

Re: tbi gasket questions

Don't buy it online as a single item, the shipping charge would probably be more than the gasket itself. Buy it from a local parts store.

I've been following this thread and it seems you've changed about everything related to decent mpg. Good job with the vids and pics.

Re: P0303 [Bob's Project Car]

Re: What type of tool do I need to remove thermostat housing under A/C

Congrats!

I usually flush it all out, so I'm not sure how much will come out. I guess you could let it spill into some container and then measure how much came out and replace it with the 57/43...

Re: Small oil leak after oil change...

I'd waste my time, Mobil 1 is not cheap. Just drain it into a milk jug, put on the plug gasket and re-use that oil.

Re: What type of tool do I need to remove thermostat housing under A/C

Skip removing the a/c. It shows from your posts that your not comfortable doing it, so skip it.

You have to push that lower hose out of the way to get the socket on there. It will move! Push...
