Re: 92 SL Dies Randomly, Then Won't Start; Only Cranks

I swapped the ICM, and it has been running beautifully since. Alternator will be replaced in the next couple days as well. On to Emissions and Safety Inspection!

Re: 92 SL Dies Randomly, Then Won't Start; Only Cranks

Awesome. I have a ICM lying around from a '93, I'll swap it in and give it a shot.

92 SL Dies Randomly, Then Won't Start; Only Cranks

Long time no post, all! How's everybody?

I'm currently working on a friend's 92 SL, but I can't figure out the problem.

At first, it would randomly refuse to start after sitting when warm....

No start, loud clunk

Quick question. I have a buddy with a 2000 SL2 5spd that he bought with a bad transmission. It only would work in first and second with no reverse. We swapped in a mp3 from a 1996. before I put it in...

Re: Looking (way) ahead, Larz Anderson Museum Extinct Car Day 2015

I've got some bad news, cityhawk. Due to medical issues, I haven't had a job for three months. I've got one now, and I'm in my second week. Due to that, my budget is still quite tight. Also, none of...

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

OK. I'll replace the cam cover gasket, clean everything up, then retest. Yes?

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

OK. I'll replace that, hopefully today.

EDIT: I found the graphs you mentioned in another thread. I can see what you mean now.

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

OH! I can't believe I didn't mention that the spark plugs (#1 & #2) were covered in oil from outside the cylinder. Valve cover gasket, right? That wouldn't cause HC PPM failure, though, would it?

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

I do have the Torque app, and a Bluetooth adapter. Problem is, the adapter is OBDII.

I assumed the oil is the cause since it was right after the oil change. Regardless, I will get the Mobil 1 out....

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

Not only that, but the used oil from it has now been mixed with really old oil from a Nissan 300ZX and a Nissan Titan (buddy is a Nissan guy).

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

OK, here's the test results.

This was the first test. The car failed due to the idle RPM being too high. So, I cleaned the throttle body, bringing the RPMs right...

Re: Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

OK, so I'll try switching back to whatever was in it. If I can't, what oil should I try? This is an engine that will be rebuilt soon ( <6 months) regardless of performance, as it is eventually going...

Oil Burning Making Me Fail Emissions

Hey all.

I've never had a Saturn burn oil much, but now I've got an issue.

So, on my '93 SW2, I am trying to get it past emissions. Originally, he was high-idling. I fixed that by cleaning the...

2Nd Gen Steering Wheel in 1st Gen?

I searched for this, but couldn't find anything definitive. Would I be able to swap a 2nd-gen wheel into my '93? I really don't like the 1st-gen wheel. I think I read somewhere the shafts are...

Re: Group Buy: AMR front strut tower brace

After seeing this, and reading about wgbecker1970's positive experience, I think I'd be more inclined to buy from AMR. Probably start with something in stock, though. That rear sway bar is calling my...

Re: Group Buy: AMR front strut tower brace

I'm glad your experience was positive. That being said, the people of these forums were told a deadline and a price, and were told the bars would be of a certain quality. I watched as they paid and...

Re: Brake Pedal Illuminates Dash?

Found the problem! It seems the wiring for trailer hookups was damaged, causing the left turn and running light wires to touch. What blew the fuse was those two brushing against a ground. Thanks for...

I've got an All data for my 93. Would that be similar enough?
