Re: Bon Jovi / Kenneth Cole Outlook on eBay

Does anyone know if the dual headrest monitors are from the GM accessories catalog? I'd rather go with something like this instead of the $1200-$2000 factory-installed single 7" screen

Re: Need the XR - dislike the "wood" interior trim

Perhaps in a year or so there'll be an aftermarket trim kit to buy, but not now it seems. We're getting an Acadia for the same reasons. (And we feel opposite abt the grill)

Re: Enclave, Bisected

Does that rear seat look like it's a 3 passenger bench? The Enclave concept had 3 rows of 2 seats, but that looks like half a bench.

Anyone seen any better images of the bisected Enclave at the Detroit Auto Show?

Re: Interior Picture of an Outlook w/o navigation?

Exactly. Just like built-in DVD systems. I think the factory one (7"?) is like $1200. Over T-Day weekend I picked up a 10" portable DVD player for $99.

Another year and decent portable Navs will...

Re: Interior Picture of an Outlook w/o navigation?

Yeah, especially when you can get a Garmin or Magellan these days for $300. What are they thinking with charging $2000?

Re: Will GM be able to sell the outlook in the >$32k market

That is soo true! Both my good friend and my brother each get new cars every 2-3 years. They both rave about how they never spend anything on maintenance, not recognizing that they never keep a car...

Re: Will GM be able to sell the outlook in the >$32k market

Yes, it's an investment. While the value of the car will depreciate, every month it runs after its paid for is profit. What's the average car payment these days? Let's call it $400. Every month you...

Re: Will GM be able to sell the outlook in the >$32k market

Believe it or not, there are plenty of people who measure vehicles based on functionality, not the shiny add-on doo-dads. For $28K you're getting all the same mechanicals as the top of the line...

Re: More Outlook Relief

Depreciation is only a concern if you regularly change vehicles every couple years. If you own a vehicle for a normal 5-10 year period, then depreciation value isn't so much of a concern. And if...

Re: Outlook - Acadia Differences

Not entirely the same. On the Outlook, you can only order the 2nd row buckets on the XR model, so to get a 7-pass Outlook costs $495 + the $2K+ for the XR package.

Re: Outlook - Acadia Differences

Here's an odd difference I think I've noticed: standard number of seats.

Acadia has seating for 7, with optional seating for 8.
Outlook has seating for 8, with optional seating for 7.

So you...

Re: outlook prices announced

First off, a 40K Outlook is fully loaded, where as a $40K Q7 is the flat base model. Doesn't even have a 3rd row.

But what you really need to consider against the Q7 (or other lux's) is total cost...

Re: outlook prices announced

Only 5-7? That's just enough time to pay off the loan! My take on it is, if it takes 5 years to pay for, I'm gonna drive it another 5 years to get my money's worth. I've been driving for ~25 years...

Re: outlook prices announced

A good starting assumption is that people who are shopping for a 7/8 passenger vehicle need space for that many. If you only need space for 5 or less, buy a smaller vehicle.

Depreciation is...

Re: outlook prices announced

I think you're looking at it backwards. If you want to equip an Outlook like an MDX and pay $40 for all the bells and whistles, you can (as you pointed out.) But you can't de-content an Acura to get...

Re: outlook prices announced

I think the base price is good given what you get. While the >$40K is scary, I think I actually prefer the 'a la carte' approach to options. On a lot of cars these days, in order to get the better...

Re: Any questions for a former Outlook (interior) designer?

I guess what I must not understand is either the frequency of installation, or the difficulty of installation.

In my experience with car seats, they stay put for an awfully long time. An infant...

Re: Any questions for a former Outlook (interior) designer?

There's an even easier answer to the LATCH question: practicality. Getting kids in and out of car seats is a pain in the rump. As a parent, having to climb back to the 3rd row of a vehicle to place...

If you look in the "Order/Reference guide thread" posted a while back, and open the attached Outlook.pdf, you can see the complete listing of options/features.

The outside mirrors you speak of are...

Re: Car seats

What exactly does LATCH do? Neither of our vehicles, nor any of our kid seats, have the LATCH feature. The belt either threads thru the seat, or the boosters just sit on the seat.

Re: Car seats

We currently ride 3 across in the back seats of both a Mountaineer and a Stratus. As I said, it's a tight fit. We have to really squeeze our hands between the seats to buckle the belts.

We...

Re: Car seats

I'm betting you could get all 3 seats in the 3rd row, if you had to. We're currently squeezing 3 kid seats into the 2nd row of a 1st gen Mountaineer, and according to the Outlook/Acadia spec sheet,...

Re: Outlook vs Acadia

I agree, but usually it's a significant mechanical difference like engine/trans/suspension, or stability/traction control, or 5 vs 7 pass seating. If there's going to be a 5-10% price premium on...
