Re: 1999 saturn sc2 Blinking low coolant light

No harm as long as you rinse it out thoroughly afterwards.

Do you mean squirting detergent in the tank and leaving it in there? You now have foamy dish detergent going through your cooling...

Re: 1998 SW2 Carpet From Other Gens??

One some of the coupes, you have to slide the seat belt out of the presenter arm (on my 3rd gen, it is attached to the headrest leg).

I always forget, and try to pull the seat out only to have...

Re: feel like the lone ranger..

Saturn is a different car, and you have a different Saturn (I can't imagine a lot of Saturn owners have any connection to Barbados and painting their car accordingly ) :)

Re: Timing Chains!

The OEM chains are top quality.

Very rare that there are issues before 200~300k unless the engine oil has been neglected. I had to change mine on my '98 at 102k because it was making the timing...

Re: Best aftermarket motor mounts?

I think it's a YMMV situation. My DEA mount is still going strong.

That said, Chinese products are not known for high quality control. It's possible that at some point, their source for rubber...

Re: New owner, what common issues and preventative maintenance do I need to do - 2002

That's the ECTS. No need to change it since you are showing correct temp, and Saturn had changed the ECTS from plastic to brass tipped sometime late in the 2001 model year - so all 2002 S-series are...

Re: New owner question - miss at idle, intermittent "pop" in exhaust

Bottle of fuel cleaner, like Techron, wouldn't hurt.

How old are the spark plug wires? I got similar symptoms with old wires on my minivan (100k platinum plug changes). I usually change wires...

Re: I knew about auto reverse slam....

That's sad.

probably someone who doesn't know/care and took it to a shop, who quoted them several grand to replace the transmission. So they just keep driving it and will do so until it dies...

Re: 2000 SL2, Serpentine belt, idler pulley

If a bearing seized and the plastic pulley stopped spinning, it would get very hot, very quickly, as the belt is still going around at a very high rate of speed. But you said the pulley spun freely,...

Same issue here. Luckily, Saturnfans had the answer.

Since I post stuff on the "what did you do to your Saturn today" thread for easy reference, I can see I paid $49 for the starter back in...

Re: How should i remove stickers from my SC2?

I've used Goo Gone on my plastic panels (my car had several covered stickers). Use sparingly and don't let it soak. Peel the sticker off first, only use the goo gone on the sticky residue.

Re: Should I actually bother with buying a Saturn? Semidisabled novice needs advice..

I wouldn't say "prone to" - that implies it happens more than it probably does. Sure it happens, but not enough that I would steer somebody away from a car.

My 2002 has been bullet proof so far...

Re: 3.5k rpm idle after TB replacement, settled down now

I'll take a closer look at the two plates sometime. If I have the same idle issue when I leave work, I will clean out the OEM TB and swap it back in, and will compare then.

I didn't really...

Re: 3.5k rpm idle after TB replacement, settled down now

SPS used to make performance parts for Saturns. It was before my time with Saturns.

The SPs throttle body is (I believe) a stock throttle body, some of the material removed and a new, larger...
