Re: Replacement '06 Vue 3.5L

Thanks for the info. I replaced the plugs last night with Bosch iridiums - decent price and a $3/plug rebate from Autozone! Appears the plugs had been replaced at least once already as I pulled out...

Re: Replacement '06 Vue 3.5L

I'll agree to a point that you cannot tell how much mileage is on a belt. However, hold a new and old belt side-by-side and there will be a difference.

I've done them before on a Ford 2.0L and a...

Re: Replacement '06 Vue 3.5L

I took the front timing belt cover off today and the belt looked to be in good shape. The pump looked newer too and didn't appear to have the factory cleanliness around the gasket. It's a matter of...

Re: Replacement '06 Vue 3.5L

Thanks for the response.

I took some time to do a simple test: I turn the key on and wait for about 5-10 seconds for the pump to prime and then it doesn't sit and crank excessively. Guess I'll be...

Replacement '06 Vue 3.5L

It's been quite a while since I've been here. Had an '06 Vue 3.5L that I took great care of until I rear-ended another vehicle last weekend. I would have retained the salvage but the radiator...

Re: 06 Vue door locks question

I had the same problem except the unlock worked on the passenger side. Bought two new switches off eBay and had it repaired in about 20 minutes.

Re: 2006 VUE auto transmission pulsing

Do you have the number to the Saturn Help Desk handy? I'm thinking about giving them a call. Even after the 3x drain/fill of the tranny it seems to delay on picking the right gear when I start...

Re: e brake adjustment

This is the procedure I've always followed when doing drum brakes in vehicles. If I don't do it this way the brakes feel mushy and the handle has to be pulled all the way to get some sort of...

Re: changed thermostat now i got no heat HELP!

Agreed. A good practice that I've done when refilling an engine is to dump the coolant into the radiator and engine separately and bump the truck around to dislodge some of the air bubbles. Drive...

Re: Quest for better MPG

Agree here. The faster you go the more power it takes to move you; I read something years ago (not sure if it has changed today due to technology) it takes 4x the power to go 2x as fast.
Lower your...

Re: To seafoam or not.. That is the question

Spirited drive---agreed! IMHO pretty cool when it smokes for a while. Seafoam'd my Mustang GT a few times and seeing white smoke pour from the dual pipes was pretty cool. Also done it to my Rav4...

Re: Headlamps

I've used 800 grit, then 1000 grit, then 2000 grit wet sandpaper on the headlights. Washed and dried them then used Meguires plastic polish on them. Seemed to do a decent job.

Re: Tires for 05 v-6 FWD ( thinking Yokohama YK580?)

I've had Yokohama's on my Mustang GT, Neon (both of which have new homes), my wife's Rav4 and now the Vue.
I have about 9000 miles on the YK580's; they are some of the quietest tires I've ridden...

Re: Transmission Fluid Color

I would stay away from that fluid! It is for belt and chain-driven continuously variable transmissions according to Valvoline's website. And it appears you have the Honda 3.5L drivetrain. Best to...

Re: Hwy gas mileage

With my '06 V6 FWD I typically get around 27mpg. The best was around 27.8 on a 3.5 hour trip with a few stops between 70-75mph with the a/c on.
This last fill was just over 20mpg but that was from...

Re: drilling holes in the thermostat?

Not once have I heard of the problem of cold coolant rushing to the heads and cracking them. Maybe it is an issue on Grand Prix's (along with others I've heard) but with all the other engines and...

Re: drilling holes in the thermostat?

This wouldn't happen to be a forum where stickers, cut springs, chicken wire grills and a loud exhaust can are common mods?

Re: Bad bearing like sound

This failed in my mother-in-law's Vue. She said that there was a thumping/moaning noise coming from someplace underneath and occurred at over 30mph. I took it for a drive; sure enough as it got...

Re: Headlight Issue

Fuses are a good start. How about replacing both bulbs as it could be they are both burned out (though not sure how that will affect the indicator).
I bought a newer car years (YEARS) ago and...

Re: Power door locks

Bringing this back to the top only to aid in those searching for a similar problem. I got my two new switches in today for $48/shipped from eBay. Install was pretty easy and the switches work...

Re: Power door locks

Thanks for the info guys. I pulled the passenger door one apart yesterday; the unlock works just fine, but the lock side does not, though jumping the wires causes the dash to ding with the door...

Re: Vue 2006 trailer wiring harness - no brake lights?

Here's what I did:
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1875421&postcount=5

The wiring under the jack is a loop except for the green wire (right signal). Splices worked the best here...

Power door locks

Anyone know of issues with the power door lock switches? I noted the other day when bringing someone home that the driver door lock switch wouldn't work: both unlock and lock but he was able to hit...

Re: I smell coolant

How about from the overflow tank or its hose? Do you have any drips on the ground after the vehicle has been sitting for a while?
