Re: Removing headlight pop-up motor

Never heard of or had the experience of having a headlight motor drain a battery due to being stuck. The usual mode of failure is the motor gears strip and the headlight doesn't pop up, which is why...

Re: Diff pin failure

Lol, I have a new one sitting in my garage. Would like to eventually put it in the "95 SC2 when it goes back together. I found it at ZBAG, Zumbrota Bearing and Gear, about three years ago. I've been...

Re: 1995 SC2 starting problems

For OBD1 cars, you can tell the code using the "paperclip trick". Using a paperclip to bridge the top two connectors on the ALDL port, then turn the ignition on. The check engine light will flash in...

Re: waterpump leaking - changing in winter issues

The water pump can die a slow death and gives a warning puddle under the passenger side of the engine. Once the car is parked, the coolant continues to pressurize the system since the car is in heat...

Re: Rare 1999 SC2 5-Speed "White Hot" For Sale!

The pictures look good for 207K though, but I wonder if the engine cradle looks looks like swiss cheese on the driver's side considering it's a Minnesota car, and that really depends on the history...

Re: Rare 1999 SC2 5-Speed "White Hot" For Sale!

There were only 213 made, and even fewer left, notice the black badges and black roof panel.

Re: how do you repair a bumper cover

Might be easier to have a local shop do it, the material has to flex with the bumper. If you would like to DIY, start reading and watching videos on plastic bumper repair. A good automotive paint...

Re: The oil burning issue, the truth?

I remember reading the original thread back in the the early 2000s when it was concluded that it was the oil rings getting stuck due to no drainback holes. It made sense back then, and much has been...

Re: Extinct Car Day 2015 at Larz Anderson Auto Museum

Still working on my 95 SC2 occasionally, it's in 1000 pieces. Maybe by next summer I will have it put back together and I can make it out there a year from now. Good to see the pictures :)

Re: Transmission Service...Does this sound correct???

Maybe not as relevant at this point in time, but auto transmission drain/fill and filter change in the late 1990s was $60 at the local Saturn dealership.

Re: removing first Gen speakers

Note for those in the north part of the US:

In the rust belt the bottom screws attaching the exterior door panel are often rust-welded to the speed nut it screws into. Trying to break these free...

Re: Help me to ID this part please

Mark the tie rod where it meets the jam nut and compare the length of the old and new rod end, and you will be able to get the alignment fairly close so the tires don't squeal and scrub all the way...

Re: Lower Control Arm/Steering Knuckle

Depending on what part of the country you are in, rust belt or not, might be a good idea to hit the nuts inside the cradle with penetrating oil. The nuts are known to break off inside the cradle...

Re: Lower Control Arm/Steering Knuckle

A broken sway bar end looks like this, see how the end is popped out from the bar on the end of the bottom bar? The driver's side on my 95 SC2 was the side that popped out. These things can be hard...

Re: Lower Control Arm/Steering Knuckle

I had a mysterious clunk that finally traced to the lower control arm to engine cradle bolt. If the bolt has enough wear on it, it can't hold the tension and will move back and forth, producing the...

Re: Engine mounts affecting transmission?

What did you use for the upper mount? Non-OEM mounts are known to fail, so if you changed it last year, a cheap mount might be bad already.

There are three mounts on the passenger side of the...

Re: Rear Wiper Leaking

The reason for removing the motor is so that the grommet can be inserted into the hole in the glass and have enough clearance and flex space to perform the insertion. If you try to insert the grommet...

Re: 1995 Saturn SC2 - What are these, what do they do, and do I need them?

Not sure what the first one is, but it looks like it could be connected to the electronics in the dash, or part of the HVAC system.

Second one looks like the airbag module that is below the...
