Re: Dash lights not working

Sure sounds like the common problem where the unused wires don't get taped/insulated properly, touch metal somewhere, and blow a 10a fuse in the underhood fuse box. Did you check the fuses in both...

Re: "Fogged" headlight: best remedy?

Clearcoat is going to be the longer lasting solution, it just requires proper prep and the right clearcoat.

Re: "Fogged" headlight: best remedy?

The thing isn't how to get the headlights to look good, it's how to get them to STAY looking good for a long time with minimal upkeep.

Re: 00-02 Sl2 Intake

If you want to show your car off at all, look for a "real" intake vs the PVC version. Few will respect it. It also won't flow as smoothly, and won't give the nice bends of a purpose-made intake. In...

Re: 1998 sc1 engine swap.

They changed the head design for '99, but I think the bolt pattern stayed the same. I believe it should bolt right up to your current exhaust, and basically be a drop-in engine. I'm not 100% on that...

Re: Performance mods and such

5 speed swap is fairly easy and cheap. If you want performance, it's probably the best place to start. Less powertrain loss, one more gear, more control, more fun, more reliability. Can be done with...

Re: Exhaust question

"ricey" sound is subjective. One person may think an exhaust sounds good, another won't like it.

Re: 2000 Saturn Sl2 Warm Air (Short Ram) Intake

Also, an intake isn't likely to give much if any change in power or mpg on these cars. It will, however, make it louder. Some like that, some don't.

Re: S-series are addicting..bought another

I'd say $400 is about the right price. Interior and exterior are both pretty sad looking. Glad it runs well. With the right u-pull-it yard to get parts from, it could be made pretty nice again with a...

Re: 2001 Single Cam Aftermarket Intake

It's going to be the same options as any SOHC (SC1, SL, SL1, SW1) from '95-'02, or any DOHC (SC, SC2, SL2, SW2) from '91-'99. Lots of cheap aftermarket options on ebay. Only name brand option coming...

Re: ECM Compatibility after Transmission Swap

Yup, you'll just need the manual PCM for inspeciton time. I've been running an auto PCM on my manual swapped '99 SC2 for nearly ten years.

Re: transmission conversion???

The cruise will keep working as long as you have the auto PCM (that's another side note - the correct term on these cars is PCM, not ECU, though we all know what you mean.) The problem will come when...

Re: Saturn SSL turns over but wont stay on..

Could be the ECTS also - it'll make the car run like crap, and they all fail. If you haven't changed it, do.

Also, there's no such thing as a Saturn "SSL". Assuming it's an S-Series sedan, it's...

Re: transmission conversion???

If your current car is in good shape, the manual swap isn't so difficult as to warrant selling it and buying a different car IMO. Everything is bolt-in, it's really a pretty easy swap.

Re: Remote keyless entry fob stops working too often

Have you wiped down the circuit board contacts, or just the battery? On mine, the problem is usually that the circuit board needs cleaned. You can just wipe it down with a rag or kleenex (probably...

Re: Replaced the Water Pump. Low Coolant light is back on again!

A few things:

- your thermostat does not control your temp gauge. It is a mechanical part that opens and closes to control how much coolant re-circulates in the engine vs goes through the...

Re: Electric Conversion Saturn On Ebay

Heating hurts the range more than cooling. It's certainly an aspect to consider when looking at electric.

They're billing for the electric charging eh? Many places don't, or don't price it...

Re: Any autocross experts???

First question is how competitive you want to be. If you're looking to have a lot of fun and be fairly competitive on a local level, then you're fine. If you want to be competitive at a regional...

Re: OBD2 scanner years?

Yup. BTW, one of the best deals on an OBD2 scanner is a $20-30 bluetooth adapter + Torque app on a smartphone or tablet. TONS of great features, including scanning and clearing codes, seeing live...

Re: 96 sl2 aftermarket door latches available?

And if you can't find ones in a yard that look any good, you might post up to see if anyone who lives in a low rust/corrosion area could pick some up for you.
