Re: Need help, can I drive whatever this thing is that broke?

Yes, buy a pair and do both sides. They are a part of the rear control arm kit but if you call them they do sell individual parts. https://www.energysuspensionparts.com/products/saturn_sc2_1998 You...

Re: Need help, can I drive whatever this thing is that broke?

The Dorman part is OK. There is not much thrust on that link unless you are doing burnouts or panic stops so even well used ones hold up well.

Re: Need help, can I drive whatever this thing is that broke?

They are all identical for all years 91-02 SL, SC, SW. Get a pair WITH the 2 bolts and nut each from an 02 if you can.

Re: Sohc to Dohc swap done with issues

I think the writer should take a close look at the O2 sensor DTCs and figure out how they function. If there is no DTC and the 171 is a continuous event then the sensor is functional and if there is...

Re: Car sat for 6 months....precautions before start?

The damage caused by starting a dry engine does not show up immediately. Usually takes long enough that there is no obvious connection to the dry start and subsequent failure(s).

Sometimes you get...

Re: Best Tires for Handling & Rain Traction? - '98 SC2

When looking at the tire makers websites look for GT tires with a good rain rating and poor mud and snow.

Re: Best Tires for Handling & Rain Traction? - '98 SC2

If that is your objective then careful reading of the actual manufactures web site is a good place to start as that is an entirely different item than just rain tires. Good cornering requires a...

Re: oil like residue from exhaust

That cam cover leak will end up on the back of the car, has nothing to do with the exhaust. Any oil in the exhaust is unburned oil that has made it out of the combustion chamber, that shows up as oil...

Re: Best Tires for Handling & Rain Traction? - '98 SC2

Mud/Snow tires are not good Ice tires in most cases. Then Rain tires are altogether different issue. Every tire manufacturer has tread designs for these conditions including Dry pavement and their...

Re: pulling away at idle when cold

Problem may or may not be solenoid related. There is a lot going on in that VB. Might be a pressure regulator failure that allowed high pressure when cold.

Re: Passenger Side CV axle C-clip

Clicking is usually a bad outer CV joint. The bad one is on the side you are turning into. See if the click rate changes with a slower turn speed.

Re: Sohc to Dohc swap done with issues

That is a hillbilly fix that almost never works as the O2 sensor is closely monitored and they either work or not, no half way. If there are no O2 sensor codes then it is very likely not broke. Lean...

Re: Help!!!! I lost my keys!!!!

I know lots of adults who could use a box of these things. Either that or take a good locksmith course and learn how to no longer need keys.

Re: Help!!!! I lost my keys!!!!

The bunch of bureaucratic geniuses who decreed that the lock cylinder belongs on the column instead of the dash have caused a world of grief and accomplished little.

That lock is not hard to...

Re: Sohc to Dohc swap done with issues

Did you swap in the SOHC injectors or are you using the DOHC injectors. You do want to keep the SOHC PCM or you might end up buying a world of expenses/trouble swapping in a DOHC PCM. It should run...

Re: Sohc to Dohc swap done with issues

The SOHC PCM will run the DOHC as a grocery getter with no issues. The code is likely real. Check your fuel pressure as that is the most likely cause. You are looking for 38-42/44 KEY ON Engine Off...

Re: Passenger Side CV axle C-clip

After removal and before install always gently compress the ring into its grove, do this multiple times around the ring. The OEM is not a plain C clip it is a formed ring.

Re: How to check if engine turns over

#s 4&5, use breaker bar and extension and you have to take off the wheel and splash shields. Take a set of large sockets as that pulley bolt can be different sizes. Turn CLOCKWISE ONLY.

If it is a...

That is the one that fits the 96 you have. This is a video on how to get it out of the car and be sure you not that it goes back in in reverse order. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iogtiYraHCg

Re: 1996 Saturn SC2 Coupe - Need Body Circuit wiring diagram

I will have to take a look at the 97 BUT it does have the RKE with the SECURITY feature that WILL prevent a starter run. There is a hidden relay. Make your connection to measure the parasitic load...
