Re: She's Dead Jim

Ehh .. just a flesh wound :-)

But ... if everyone is OK, thats the important part. Satty's are a dime a dozen, people are a little harder to replace.

Pull anything worth pulling off of it...

Re: Throttle Position Sensor "Bro-Science" diagnositic

Thanks Nuc. I like the idea of a $5 Pick n Pull part even better. I'll probably grab a few of them just in case.

I checked the TPS connector as good as one can visually, and all looks well. This...

Throttle Position Sensor "Bro-Science" diagnositic

2001 SL-1 Auto, 110k miles

So for several months I have been chasing a high idle, erratic shift problem. I have extensively searched for the common intake gasket leak, and do not think that is my...

Re: Pathetic headlights fixed............

The problem is in finding a product that will actually adhere to the lens. Finding that in a rattle can isn't likely to happen.

What most of the kits I have had did was provide just a few...

Re: Pathetic headlights fixed............

I don't like using the headlight kits that rely on a clear coating as the final step. This is just taking a shortcut, that will almost always over time fail, putting you right back where you started....

Re: Reaching my wits end.

Definitely needs to be de-riced for sure. Luckily I have 2 full sets of factory alloy's, and all parts needed to lose the cold air intake.

I figure if I get it cheap, I can drive it while the SL...

May be going to take a look at this little guy tonight. If it checks out, it would give me an alternative driver so I...

Re: Reaching my wits end.

I'll give carb cleaner a shot, just to make sure.

And yeah .. I am quite familiar with "The List" ... this being my 5th S-Series .. I have been through all the typical S-Series maintenance quite...

Re: Reaching my wits end.

I would just about bet the farm that the IM gasket is the original. This was a one owner car, and so far nearly everything I have done to it since buying it this spring has involved removing what...

Re: Reaching my wits end.

Last fluid change was 18k miles ago, DEXIII for sure.

This was the first fluid change for me at the owner, but old fluid did not look (or smell) bad at all.

Current fluid is still so clean...

Reaching my wits end.

2001 SL-1, 120k miles, auto trans.

So, for a couple months or more now, I have been chasing an issue with this car. (Actually several issues, but I just get the feeling they are all related)

Re: 1995 saturn SL2

The 95 SC-1 is also my favorite S-Series. Would love to have a DOHC with the SOHC nose, but neither swap is really worth the hassle.

Re: Removed passenger seatbelt to remove rear trim....

I don't remember anything like you are describing when I did my interior swap. Only thing even remotely close was some small part on the backside of the grab handle when I pulled the headliner. I am...

Re: How Do You Verify You’re Not Buying a FLOOD VICTIM?

You might be able to search copart if the car was sold through there, and find the auction pictures.

Re: Whoever designed where the starter is...

I will say, I do know how the OP feels. Took me forever to change the starter the first time. Especially if you are a guy with bigger forearms, it really can be a PITA to get that top bolt.

Using...

Re: When buying a saturn s series what should you look for?

Yikes! So glad I don't live in the Rustbelt!

If all you need is a cover up for an inspection, then sure, slap some filler in there and a little rattle can paint to hide it.

But in the long...

Re: Sporadic High Idle

Finally caught a chance to turn the car off and back on while the idle was high, and I am thinking the TPS may be the issue. Pulled into a gas station, and the idle jumped to around 2k when I put it...

Re: How smooth are manual trannies and clutches?

Last year, I was driving my Vue daily, but still would take the 96 SL out usually on weekends. The Vue shifted "OK", but when I would get in the SL, I felt like I was going to drive the clutch pedal...

Re: Sporadic High Idle

Mine isn't "jumping" like that, thank goodness. It either idles correctly, or it idles at around 2500rpm. So far, it hasn't jumped from one condition to the other. When it is idling high, I can feel...

Re: Sporadic High Idle

Just to give a little update.

I had a little time after work before the sun went down, so I pulled the ECTS, and everything looked good. It is, as I expected, the original, but it is the 3rd gen...

Sporadic High Idle

2001 SL1 107k miles.

I am getting a intermittent high idle condition. Being that it is a 3rd gen SOHC, I immediately suspected intake gasket. But I have sprayed a full can of brake cleaner...

Re: New 1998 Saturn 1214 original miles!

Dang ... I missed buying this by $16.13.

But not by getting out bid, but by a customer coming into the store, and buying a $15.00 car charger ($16.13 after tax) ... by the time I got them taken...

Re: SC Mini Stock Build

Ill have to do some checking on what it would cost to ship a set of wheels. If it's not outrageous, I'd definitely be interested in the set that's on the blue car.

Damn ... I want your spare wheel collection :)

Seems all your donor cars have decent aftermarket rims.
