Re: Parade Mode (Dash Lights)

When the headlights are on manually (maybe automatically too), you can adjust the dash lights' brightness with the little knob above the swish symbol, to the right of the headlight control. Push the...

Re: First letter from GM

Coincidental with our Reprogramming last week (and an oil change), the tire pressure monitor for the rear wheels went blank. Fortunately I noticed it before I drove home, and they did the pressure...

Re: Oil dirp after oil change?

Our dealership had our Outlook towed back to them after we saw oil drips the day after they did the first oil change. They also said it was just oil that had been left on the cross member. ...

Instant mpg Re: Outlook - Gas mileage problems??

I also wish they had the instant mpg feature. It could easily be re-programmed into the Outlook's DIC, couldn't it, if they cared?

But the mpg display that the Outlook does have is still good,...

DIC Perf/Econ setting Re: So, How's that Transmission?

Wishful Thinking: If only somebody at GM were listening...........

Even better than requiring another button is to reprogram the existing DIC to make Perf/Econ yet another option that could be...

Re: Strike forcing me to compromise on Options, Please Help!

It seems we hear more complaints here about the advanced audio than the standard audio. If you listen to radio and TV at home with no special amplifiers and surround sound systems and such, you may...

Re: Yet another reason to seriously consider in-dash navigation v. portable GPS

But OnStar with Navigation costs as much EVERY YEAR as a really good GPS unit costs one time!

Re: Outlook - Gas mileage problems??

An Outlook DOES get much better mileage at slower speeds.

Not necessarily so. Have you ever actually tried it? (It is quite laborious, but it can be done safely. I tried it once.)

Re: Onstar, 2 Questions

If nothing's changed since the 2007 models, in addition to the one year basic OnStar, you get 30 minutes of hands-free phone service to use in the first month. You also can add 100 additional...

Re: Reclining split Bench seat Outlook

The Outlook's split second row bench seats DO recline / tilt back, at least a bit. They also slide about four inches backward and forward. These adjustments let second and third row passengers find...

Re: Bench Seat Measurement

It is a "60:40 split bench" seat. (Mine is an XR with leather trim, if it matters.) Measuring only the seat cushion width, the 40% side measures about 20.5 inches and the 60% side measures...

Re: Power Mirrors with a mind of their own!

I also turned off the automatic tilt-down, even though mine was working as designed, because the mirrors turned way too far down to be helpful. Maybe if one mostly does parallel parking, it would be...

Re: FWD or AWD for the Outlook XR??

You seem to have thought this through very well already. The Outlook XR already has big tires, traction control, StabiliTrak, and antilock-brakes. In my opinion, if you don't plan to drive off-road...

Re: Making Dash-mounted “cigarette lighter” power plug ignition dependent?

Good question. I have the same situation. Wouldn't it have made sense to have either the dashboard power socket OR the inside-the-console power socket turn on and off with the vehicle power! With...

Re: Outlook out of gas??

If you fill it Full, it holds, and delivers, 22 Gallons or more.

And, no, I don't believe in any "danger of 'topping off' your gas tank" (other than from spilling/wasting gas and...

Re: Error in CR?

It does tilt back a good bit. But DO BE CAREFUL! The dashboard surface is VERY FRAGILE, so it's easy to put an ugly scratch across it if something rough rests on it. I was being so impressed that a...

How full is "full" ? Re: Outlook out of gas??

Did you fill it yourself? Typical of cars these days, the gauge still shows "full" even after quite a bit of gas is used. The DIC will also show the range, or estimated miles you can drive on the...

Dear Idealist(s),

I have been a subscriber to Consumer Reports for many years, during which time I have owned and driven a variety of GM cars (Chevrolets and Saturns). I long ago concluded that...
