Re: S Series the only true Saturns?

Except the motor was sourced from Opel. Then later on the V6 was sourced by...Honda. Really...a "true" saturn? Close, but no.

Re: GM to close Saturn by 1st Quarter?

And? Both are technically really Daewoo, which both GM and Suzuki partnered up to purchase Daewoo Motors back in 2002.

Re: GM to close Saturn by 1st Quarter?

The only saving grace Buick had was that it is a premiere brand in the fastest growing automobile market in the world right now: China. And before anyone laughs, the Buicks they get or have had over...

Re: GM Retains High End Brands?

Chevy is equiviliant to what Ford is. Their mainstream brand.

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

I don't think I'd put down Ford, considering they didn't need a government bailout (and before anyone get disillusional, it was a bailout) or file for bankruptcy and their products are getting...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

The Ranger has sold 20% more than the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon combined YTD this year.

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

So now reverse engineering means cloning? HA!

EVERY major manufacturer reverse engineers their competitor's products and not just automobile companies. Heck, I'm almost positive GM has a...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

Are you serious? You really believe the early S-series were japanese clones? That's a pretty clueless remark, if I have to say so.

Compare to all the japanese compact cars in the early 90's, the...

Re: Will Someone Purchase the Saturn Name?

Ha!

The car business is vastly different and more complex than most other business.

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

Oh, and not to mention the feds jumping in to back up all warranties and drawing up plans for a quick turnaround in bankruptcy.

Don't try to defend that GM. They screwed up and needed help from...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

Except that the US Government took 60% ownership of GM through stock shares. There is absolutely NO legality in GM paying that back. And everyone's expectation is the government will not recoup...

Re: Your recommendations for an older Saturn

The CVT/VTi transmission was actually in the 4cyl Ecotec.

As for my suggestion, just find another S series in the 2000-something year. Stay away from the L-series.

Re: Saturn and Me: General Motors Loses a Customer

Dear lord, that was my first car. Horrible, horrible, horrible....

Most unreliable car I ever had, by far.

Re: Buick nixes Vue as next crossover

Granted though, today's Buick is a little different from the Buick when it released the Rainier.

I think they're making the right call. What's the point of having 4 different versions of the...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

Again, that has NOTHING to do with the purchase of a used car. We're talking about the purchase only.

First off, a very large percentage of dealerships are independently owned and are typically...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

That's streeeeeetching it by a lot and is a totally different subject as far as perception and indirect advertisment. The direct money exchanged between two parties (or three if a lien is involved)...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

I see. I guess if you can't handle a decent debate injecting logic and facts in it, just lower your standards and start childish statements.

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

Let me say again, buying a USED car has no direct effect on the manufacturer! How does buying a used German made BMW increase profits for BMW? It doesn't.

The only possible exception might be...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

That makes no sense. Buying any second hand car, import or domestic built, profit goes to the previous owner. Nothing goes back to the original manufacturer.

A Mexican made HHR with only...

Re: Saturn and Me: General Motors Loses a Customer

Re: Saturn and Me: General Motors Loses a Customer

I believe the situation is much worse on the other extreme if GM had no American plant and imported everything to sell to US consumers. A big gap in the middle class gone. Government revenue lost. ...

Re: Will Your Next New Car be a General Motors Vehicle?

I never said I was against outsourcing or building cars in Canada or Mexico. I dislike the argument of people saying we should blindly support GM to keep America's job here when many import brand...

Re: Saturn and Me: General Motors Loses a Customer

I dislike the profits argument because where does these profits for these huge corporation go to: Shareholders. Because Honda America and Toyota America exchange stocks on the NYSE, anyone in the US...
