Re: 98 sc2 windshield glass

9 years ago I had a guy replace the front shield in my '97. 6 years ago I replaced the headliner. 4 years ago i noticed a white deposit on the grey headliner behind the drivers side window shade,...

Re: Metro Detroit welding repair?

I got two estimates a couple years ago, assuming that I procured and prepared
a replacement rocker top section from a junkyard, and that I would do the after-weld paint (protective coating) job:...

Re: Tuning SW2?

> ' What about boring the block? '

A 'torque plate' is required for a real good engine.... as soon as the head is torqued, a couple cylinders are out-of-round at the wear limit.
Need pistons with...

Re: Shift Interlock

There's an adjustment procedure - did it on my '97.
As Chaos notes, need remove the console for access.

I forget procedure, but OEM factory manual is explanatory.

Re: Clear lens headlights

I bought Clear-Lens headlamp assemblies for '97 Gen2 at CarID.
They were cheaper than the certified variety, and did not yellow.
Not sure if the lenses were fluted... lost the car.

Re: The definitive guide to Gen3 S-series instrument cluster bulb replacement

I spent a while reading about the LED swap, but reverted and just replaced with
the standard incandescent.

ALordofChaos and Nigey seem to have done well with the LEDs.

Re: Leaking fuel line at fuel rail?

Soo, BillR is correct that the '97/gen2 regulator responds to varying vacuum by changing the pressure (rare error by FD~).

I tested mine by observing that the pressure moved...

I had good Kumho, and not-good kumho.

Turned out that the good ones are fresh, and the dried-out ones are bad.

Last summer i bought a set of 4 new, first time. They were worth it, since all...

Re: Car stalls Randomly. What could it be?

Soooo I think in '99 the Fuel Pressure Regulator is integral with the fuel
filter (which also listed as suspect). Maybe try Wix or Purolator.
The fuel pump might be shot (especially if run tank...

Re: Air filters S Series

It's not that critical an application for us.
When I got my '97 at 150kMi, the air filter element had likely never been changed. That --a Very filthy element-- doubtless contributed to the worn...

Re: Sl1 blown head gasket

I would definitely clean/rinse the block/head/expansion tank further
because it should establish a clean 'base line' from which you can proceed.

The DOHC heads leak, but only rarely. As long as...
