Re: Volo chip - it's real

I purchased the VP12 "performance" chip for my 2004 3.5 V6 and have racked up over 400 miles running it. Here are my observations:

When towing, MPG increases from 10 to 13 as measured across...

Re: 04 Vue 3.5 won't crank turnover

Thanks very much for posting your approach. I used the same, and it worked nicely. One thing that threw me, was the placement of the rear battery tray bolt - it's BEHIND the front bracket for the...

Re: Honda VUE torque converter clutch

Oliver -

I experience the same issues as you are reporting. My 2004 3.5 downshifts much too readily under mild loads that the engine can handle in the gear and lock mode it was in.

Did you...

Re: Cincinnati Area Mechanic/Saturn Parts & Repair

Larry is still working on Saturns - he did a fine job on my SL1, solving a low oil pressure problem. People like Larry still have a passion for Saturn vehicles, know what they're doing, and can get...

Re: anyone around indiana use these guys?

I just got a timing chain cover for a Saturn SL1 from Mr Wrench, and the price was fair. They repair and sell parts for many Saturns. The two mechanics there have over 20 years experience working...

Re: Larger Transmission Pan / Tranny Cooler

I just installed this cooler. It fit leaning diagonally in front of the A/C radiator, at the top of the bumper - so air can still get around it (somewhat), rather than transmitting its full heat to...

P0717 Vue 3.5L Auto trans speed sensor location w/photos

For some reason, the P0717 trouble code doesn't seem to be documented too well here on Saturnfans, so I'm contributing to help solve that.

My wife's 2004 Vue generated this code and the...

Re: Passenger side engine rattle near glove box

Some good discussion on this problem also comes from http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1971443#post1971443.

I was able to get a right motor mount from GMpartsDirect for $64.54, and...

Re: 05 vue v6 engine mount part no?

There's an excellent detailed description of the symptoms of a failed motor mount at http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172860.

I was able to get mine from GMpartsDirect for $64.54,...

Re: replaced my a/c pulley bearing

As a public service, I'm quoting your entire procedure with fixed links to the photos. Your links didn't point to the photos, but to the PAGE the photo was on, so that's what I fixed. Enjoy.

Re: really bad belt squeal. please help

One way to approach this is to just squirt some oil (while engine is off) at the moving parts, one by one, to see if the squeal is changed. I did this to mine this morning, and found that the A/C...

Re: wheel spacers

I put some 15" wheels on my SL1, and it made an incredible difference in cornering, as well as improving the stance of the car.

Re: Short Ram Intake Installed

Doesn't that mean it was running rich or missing once in a while? Mine does that with all stock parts. But if the oxygen sensor knows it's rich and doesn't adjust, adding more air will just result...

Re: Is synthetic worth it?

Now there are some synthetics that claim 10,000 between oil changes. If true, the non-synth oils recommending every 3,000 miles would have to be 1/3 or less the price of synth's to be worthwhile.

Re: Mobil1 Synthetic vs. Extended Performance

When I bought my SL1 with 101K miles, I was impressed at how smooth the engine ran. It's like it's barely broken in. I changed oil once and used regular oil, but really want to preserve the engine,...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I'll 2nd the Fosgate Punches. I read elsewhere that the bass tends to be a little weak in the Saturn S-series, and put these in - absolutely fabulous.

HOWTO: Integrating tilt sensor into existing alarm

I recently had my 1998 SL1's catalytic converter stolen while at work. The normal alarm system would not have stopped that, as the thieves simply jacked up one side of the car and sawed the cat out...

Re: Long Term Warm Air Intake Problems?

In colder climates, does the hot air intake result in the engine dropping its idle faster, due to intake air temp sensor thinking it's warmer out?
