My thoughts too, the base acting as a heat sink radiated hear, but to melt a spot in the lens, I found that strange too. The current plastic base is pretty "brown" from heat itself, so the thick...

I may had posted on this years ago, when the LW300 wagon was acquired in 2007, we found the red tail lenses each had a melted spot. Dealer said the lamp socket had been modified to a plastic base...

I've ran vehicles up to 150K without any bearing replacements, These parts are no maintenance & apparently designed to break.... I can see 100K but < 2 years & 10K in this latest instance now... ...

As I said above who knows what brand I'm actually getting though the one I had put on in December of '18 was a Moog if I believe the box (which I do), but I usually go to what my mechanic calls...

128K, & going on Wheel Bearing Service # 14 (over the life of the vehicle).

Bearing life now at <10K, this next one I will be replacing will have <5K on it.

I kind of agree, mine got to the point where I just want to keep it running a while longer, no mechanic can figure out the rhythmical rear knocking, yet none will admit its beyond repair as they want...

I had a shaking @ highway speeds, had to have some mount bushing replaced to the tune of $550, did not solve the shaking totally, but greatly improved it.

Revisiting this again it was found to have a loose rear bumper skin, drums were cleaned rest brakes adjusted. We settled it had to be an internally broken shock.... That wasn't it either.

Someone here gave me a neat trick for the headliner repair. Search the subject, just a simple stick of school glue & a credit card fixed it in a couple minutes.

Mine appears to eat a bearing...

All associated warning Lamps (Low Traction & ABS) appear to be functioning in start test mode. No low track warning on ice though. Wondering about a possible sensor going bad or sending incorrect...
