Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Rear Brake Pad Swap (Special Tool Needed) ?

In your service manual picture the brake bleeder is at the top of the caliper, all three diagrams. One bleeder per caliper. If this is what you removed/opened then you are golden. Just may need to...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Rear Brake Pad Swap (Special Tool Needed) ?

Brake clean will clean the brake fluid off of the rotors.
I have never split the calipers open so I am not sure what seals them. It may be a rubber type seal or metal to metal sealing. For safety...

Re: 2001 Saturn L300 - v6 3.0 Liter - Rear Brake Pad Swap (Special Tool Needed) ?

To replace the brake pads on the style of caliper in your picture you do not remove the bolts. The bolts hold the caliper together and if you removed/loosened them than you have caused brake fluid to...

Re: Help

Just to be sure....serpentine belt or timing belt?

Unless they really screwed up hard and heavy there would be very few ways to stop the car from starting after a serpentine belt replacement....

Re: 07 V6 Starter Replacement Troubleshooting

Starters do not have ground wires. They ground through the case of the starter.

The braided wire from the solenoid to the starter motor is on its own. The other large stud is supposed to have the...

Re: Thin Ground Wire Near Interior Fuse Box Connection!

Two dangling wires that you did not tape off in an area with a multitude of ground points. Now the car won't start and several inop systems.

How did you check the fuses? Did you check all of the...

Re: Please help - need idle pully stuff

If it was only broken off there is usually enough thread left in the cover to put the mount in place and thread the bolt in place to hold things in place.
The original picture shows that there is...

Re: Please help - need idle pully stuff

The idler pulley mount/support is part of the timing chain cover. The condition yours appears to be in...not really there at all, means that you are looking at replacing the timing chain cover.

Re: Small "horns" under hood by headlamps

Keep in mind that it has been the better part of 12 years since I have worked on a Saturn and the Sky was a very small part of what we worked on at the dealership.
Looking at the white part in...

Re: battery vs. alternator

Pull the covers off of the ends of the battery cables as the corrosion can build under them and not really show.

Re: 2000 L 5 spd clutch issue

You may want to get a different mechanic. Self adjusting hydraulic system. A quick visual inspection would show hydraulic lines instead of mechanical linkages.

Re: '99 SL2 scary bad knock

Determine if the knocking engine is the 99 1/2 up or the 99 1/2 down engine.

The 99's that we saw had the newer engine with the narrower head come in about half ways through the model year. So if...

Re: Battery Dead. Jumped car and it died while driving

I didn't think that much about the fusible link being open as what you can see of it in the picture the insulation appears undamaged. Further it is designed to handle the full output of the...

Re: Battery Dead. Jumped car and it died while driving

The wire from the alternator goes on the same post as the wire from the battery.
The picture shows that the alternator wire is on the post that seems to have the wire going into the starter motor....

Re: Brake bleeding procedure

If you think that the bleeder is blocked remove it and clean it with small drill bits. You should be able to blow air through it if it is not blocked.

Re: the old spark plug changing trick

Modern coils are able to produce a lot of voltage to over come large plug gaps.

So if after 100,000 plus miles of driving on them they can be worn/worn out and still let the engine run fairly...
