Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

Have you started collecting parts for the 5 speed swap yet, or are you just going to convert the sedan back to automatic?

Re: I went to check on a issue with my parking brake but found something way worse..

Actually washboard dirt roads would be a great test.

I bet it's fine. I'd be more worried about it rusting again. How did you rustproof it after the welding burned off the paint inside?

Re: Broken Stud Top Motor Mount to Frame/Bracket

I haven't looked closely at that part in a while but I think the stud is welded on. You may be able to drill it out and use a bolt & nut, but I bet that would be a pain. A junkyard is a good option.

Holy Crap Dude! From "is this a problem?" to a decent repair in one day/one post! Good job.

Yep, that's bad. If you aren't skilled in welding and fabrication, the car is probably a goner.

Re: Tale of 3 fuel pumps

^+1. Key on, fasten seatbelt, start car. This is for my '98. No issues with my '99.

Re: roof panel question

You mean 14 years old - unless you are posting from 2010. If so, I recommend stocking up on non-perishables and toilet paper in January 2020. And, sell all your stock.

Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

Nice! I'd like to have a wagon but I'm also coming to appreciate the sedan is the best for junkyard parts availability.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

Came out good. Unfortunately all 3 bulbs are burned out.

Re: Need to replace oil pan, help w/ links/info?

Did you take off the transmission stiffening bracket?
Did you take off the little sheetmetal thing that closes out the bottom of the bellhousing?

I've only done this on a '99 but it was no...

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

I can recall a motorcycle magazine article where they were testing a new loctite product - Form-a-Thread. They wanted to try it on conrod bolts.

Re: 98 SC2 project. Drive for now, maybe rebuild later.

That is awesomely nasty.

Went to LKQ yesterday to get a new 3rd brake light thing. I didn't realize the sedans have a different part. Since I struck out I'm fixing my broken one. I made a piece...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

I drove it to LKQ. Felt good to drive. Didn't realize the center brake light or the inside mirror cover was different on the coupe so I struck out there. Does anybody else feel bad leaving a car...

Re: Sl2 rear suspension

Make sure your drag links are solid, and the unibody mount point is also.

Thanks! It is definitely not perfect. Perfect is the enemy of good enough. Hopefully the smoke smell is reduced.

Re: Is this thing on...

I can hear you. Since the last update it seems the forum is no longer tracking my latest visit. Much stuff shows up as unread except from well before the update.
