Re: Is New O2 Sensor the simple fix for P0442 and P0133 Combo

I'm seeing a mileage improvement so far.

From about 28 or 29mpg, now up to 31mpg in my mixed environment driving. This includes about 30% TERRIBLE bumper to bumper urban crawl and 30% 65 - 70mph...

Re: Is New O2 Sensor the simple fix for P0442 and P0133 Combo

I'd gone over 1200 miles with no new codes. BUT, I finally did get another occurrence of P0442. I'm safely certain then that it's a legit code, that wasn't at all indirectly related to the P0133, and...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

I wasn't aware such a tool existed. That would be a tremendous advantage if I do wind up needing to repair the core. I can't locate anyone who offers them as loaner tools, unfortunately.

I didn't...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

Cleaned everything up and replace the ring over the weekend. The ones I THOUGHT would fit wound up being way too big and the plug wouldn't seat, even with encouragement. I did have a range of sizes...

Re: R134A Refrigerant Capacity Reference

Maybe it depends on the compressor. It sounds like Saturns could have one of a few different makes of "factory" compressor even within the same model year, but I think the capacity may stay the same...

R134A Refrigerant Capacity Reference

This info for refrigerant capacity, oil specs, and potential substitutes is loosely available in a few scattered threads, can maybe even be found in the How To, but I thought it might be a helpful...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

No success in finding a true metric ring. My friendly LAP store was very helpful, but their best match was a visual guess, and I think it's going to be way to small. I wound up having to spring for a...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

Those tips with sizing will be helpful. I'll see if I can get a few OD sizes and use the largest that works. I don't think there's a groove, i think it's flush until the first step down in diameter,...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

I got the ring out - couldn't manage to get the plug to move at first, but here's what was inside, and what was behind it.

I'd vented both the High and Low sided schrader valves, but there was...

Re: 2002 SL2 fuel economy

Others will be more helpful with troubleshooting efficiency issues, but I can say that my 02 SL2 has gotten a low combined of about 27, with a highway high of 29 or 30 over the past year. That's with...

Re: Engine / Transmission Mounts

Sooo, yeah, I was working on the wrong side.

Once I cleaned up some more rust, I could see that side was much softer metal and didn't have as much of a lip. The 4 tabs weren't exactly obvious...

Re: Engine / Transmission Mounts

Thanks. I'd missed that tutorial. I'll try working on the flat seam some more before breaking out the dremel now that I know more what I'm working toward.

Re: Engine / Transmission Mounts

I do have the middle one. I'm assuming the rim of the bushing (highlighted some in red below) has to be pried out, that it won't just press. The bracket is pretty rusted and the only place i can find...

Re: Engine / Transmission Mounts

The small end came out ok, but the oval is either fused from rust or is such a tight pressure fit it may as well be welded. NUC mentioned a cold chisel, but I'm having a hard time even finding a seam...

Re: Engine / Transmission Mounts

Part # is Prothane 7-510-BL for the black. You can order directly from Prothane, but there are multiple sources (Amazon, Ebay, etc.). Just do a search and determine what's best fro you with price +...

Re: 2000 Saturn SC2 coolant return line nipple broken on intake

If the nipple is completely snapped, then sorry have no solution.

Mine still had a small stub. Although even that was too short to clamp the hose onto I did manage a temporary fix by taking any...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

Well, that's no fun.

Maybe I can manage to find someone, even on another forum for a different application who might have found a decent match.

If it's a match scenario I suppose I'll just get...

Re: Is New O2 Sensor the simple fix for P0442 and P0133 Combo

Thanks for the heads up. I'm also doing a AutoRx cycle with Rotella T6 right now and my oil consumption seemed have dropped some so far. I guess changing the PCV valve adds an untended variable.

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

I tried matching O-rings on a MC carb rebuild before and it was not successful. I couldn't get them to seat properly. They just kept popping back out. I finally had to source them from someone who...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

Yeesh, I hope that's not what's in there (but, GM, so...). That's THREE O-rings to try and match, and that's if the valve itself isn't what's failing.

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

I did come across that post, and considered it. I may still. If it were that adjustment screw port, I'd likely try it. But given that this seems to be just held in by the circlip, I was absolutely...

Re: Is the seal for THIS in the standard AC gasket kit?

Thanks! It really helps to at least know it's NOT in the usual kit so I don't waste time and money on that (dead) end.

It seems like it MUST be serviceable, otherwise why put a circlip and...

Re: Infamous intake manifold leak

For me, it was primarily a longitudinal crack that ran the length of the intake tube along the outside. It had nothing to do with the manifold connection to the head. The mount surface was still...

Re: Is New O2 Sensor the simple fix for P0442 and P0133 Combo

Follow Up: About 500 miles in with a new Denso O2 sensor and so far neither code has tripped again. They would typically have shown up by now.

Although it should be COMPLETELY unrelated to the...
