Re: How do you reset the oil life monitor?

"ON" does not mean "START". I figured everyone knows that.

Re: 16 vs 17 inch wheels

You'll never notice a difference in the "ride" between a 16" and a 17" wheel. A 16" wheel/tire only has 1/2" more rubber between your butt and the road than the 17" wheel/tire, all else being equal.

Re: Noisy wipers after replacing 2005 Vue

Bon Ami rules! You'll be amazed at how much black crap comes off your "clean" windshield.

Re: creaking noise in right rear

Ever since the dealer did the rear suspension and RDM recall work, my '04 AWD has been sqeaking like that. Temperature has to be below 35F degrees for it to happen.

Re: Gas mileage concerns.... read this!

Baloney! The worst I've ever seen is 18 mpg. The best was 21 mpg. He's getting far less than he should! (IMHO)

Re: Gas mileage concerns.... read this!

Ritz, I tried to get as horrible mileage as possible one tank last Winter. It was 0-20 degrees outside, and I drove with a lead foot. About 1/2 agressive city driving, about 1/2 highway driving at...

Re: Screw my Vue

The RDM is constantly "working". The mechanism inside it is a hydraulic pump, operated by the driveshaft and/or the rear wheels. When the rear wheel speed is not matched to the driveshaft speed by...

Re: Screw my Vue

Broken parts & bad bearings. These problems are not isolated to Vues, nor to Saturns. It's all over the auto industry. Why? All the parts are being made by the "lowest bidder". Nearly all the parts...

Re: Gas mileage concerns.... read this!

Because it is a light, fairly aerodynamic car, with a small, efficient engine?

Today's cars are, for the most part, way overweight, overpowered, and as a result, inefficient. Some of this stems...

Re: Over-weight in 08'

I agree with that last sentence!

And you're right, it is a 24-valve SOHC engine.

Re: Over-weight in 08'

That's right. Opel doesn't build any plastic-bodied cars, and since the majority of new Saturns will be re-badged Opels, you can say goodbye to the plastic.

BTW, the plastic body wasn't a huge...

Re: 07 Vue gas mileage is the pits

20 MPG combined is not bad at all. I get 18-21 MPG combined and am satisfied with that. What did you expect?

Re: Re-Clear coating alloy rims

The wheels are aluminum, not steel.

The wheels are clear powder-coated after polishing and/or machining. The vinyl finish is baked on at 400 degrees F. It covers nearly the entire wheel.

The...

Re: 04 Vue-rear diff shot

Yes there was a recall. All the RDMs got replaced for free. I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think mileage would matter much on a recall. You probably could have had it replaced at no charge, even at 70K.

Re: Over-weight in 08'

Seems like every new car that comes out is a lot heavier than the one it replaces. So much for fuel-efficiency.

Re: Adios Spring Hill... íHola Ramos!

I think you need to blame, to some extent, GM too! Or am I supposed to believe that the UAW forced GM to sign all those bad labor contracts?

Re: Help with Tires

235-60-18 fit on mine just fine. Yeah the speedometer is reading about 3.5% slow, but that's not a big deal.

Re: My Vue has a crack problem......

Chances are good that the metal part of the door itself is out of tolerance somehow. When the plastic panel is attached to it, the plastic is being forced to conform to the door. The plastic can only...

Re: Polymer Panels

The only difference with the polymer is that you might not see the rust on the surface, but underneath it all it the vehicle is still rusting. That's all I was trying to say.

And actually, I see...

Re: Offset

If I'm reading you correctly, you seem to understand it pretty well.

Here is an example: If you replace a tire/wheel having a +40 offset with a tire/wheel having a +45 offset, the tire/wheel will...

Re: Polymer Panels

The "no rust" thing is a joke, right? What stops the inner structure, the frame, the tailgate, hood, and top from rusting? The only thing on a Vue that will not eventually rust is the outer skins of...
